Just saw this. A client asked us yesterday if she could reface her wood cabinets that were lightly worn, instead of replacing them. Good Idea, we thought.
Nufacers could be a really cool graffitti tag or the Upper East Side cabinet re-facing company that they are. They claim they can re-face all doors, cabinets and countertops, whether made of wood, metal or formica.
How do they do it? Unfortunately they don't RE-SURFACE, they RE-FACE, which means they:
1. remove your old doors and drawer fronts and throw them away.
2. cover your existing cabinets with beautiful laminates.
3. install new doors and drawer fronts in the style of your choice.
4. install new counters, roll-out drawers, sinks, and appliances.
True, this is better than ripping out the whole cabinet and it does save time and money, but wouldn't it be nice if products were made to be FIXED these days, instead of REPLACED? Call for free estimates: 212.426.4160. MGR

I had my kitchen refaced by Nu-Facers (www.nufacers.com) in Dec. 06 and they were extremely unprofessional; I would NEVER recommend them. They cut the wrong granite without reconfirming even though I'd told them about the change several times and attempted to charge me thousands of dollars more for the granite that I'd picked out a their referred quarry in Brooklyn. Fortunately, I found my receipt to prove that it was their fault; even their granite source (European Granite & Marble Corp) stated there was no record on file-complicit with Nu-Facers until I produced the receipt from them. Also, Nu-F DOES NOT HAVE insurance to hookup up sinks, refrigerators, stoves or dishwashers; nor do they have insurance for electrical work; they told me otherwise and I learned about that only AFTER they collected a non-refundable 1/3 deposit. This cost me time delays (had to find an electrician and a plumber) and thousands of dollars more. I recommend, instead, www.buydirect.com - right in Manhattan - even after paying their hefty sign on fee, they are cheaper and provide the same granite, refacing, etc. Or, you can call Cris Cantillo at 917.420.5670 or contact him at Cris.Cantillo@yahoo.com as he can provide you the same exact Nu-F ins and work for fractions less than Nu-F. Finally, if you contact Home Depot-it's very likely that completely new cabinets will be cheaper than Nu-Facers and be done more professionally.
