Green Style. Just finished Organic Style over the weekend. It continues to get the thumbs up for not doing all the dumb things that Real Simple does, and for being interesting.
This issue includes a small article on green materials, Eco Building Blocks, which has some good tips on bamboo flooring, natural paint, an energy saving dishwasher, and other household materials. (via OrganicStyle) MGR

That's a stunning media set-up, Alex on TV included. As for everything else, Adam, do you need a roommate?
I love it!
I love your wall. How did you do it? Thanks!
Hi Adam. I arrive tomorrow morning at around 10 a.m. I drink regular coffee and like a firm mattress. Also, I will need a litter box for my two cats. I can't wait! We're going to be the best of roomies!
did you purchase or build the media cabinet? is it a variation of a flexi-rack?
I love those windows, and the painted wall behind the TV
Super FUN!!! I love all the plants, the color, and texture.
This makes me miss California oh-so-much! I want to come hang out here and play with your pup.
Well done. :-)
I love the yellow wall too- can you share a little how you did it?
Warm, interesting, inviting.
There is much to keep one interested in the space, but the plants make it especially lovely.
i'll be watching for details on that yellow wall, too.
This is unashamedly cool.
I also love the wall, and will be watching for details :)
Wow! Good morning! My boyfriend did the yellow wall. We had been talking about what to do with it and he surprised me while I was out of town. He basically taped it off and painted it. I made the bookcase out of pipes and two uncut 10" x 2" Doug fir planks. Thanks for liking mine and Daniel's place!
Woo, this is great. A definite favourite for me!
Love all the plants, they must thrive in all that light. I like the yellow wall in the media/living area!
That couch! Amazing! And amazing commitment to the "unconventional".
that is the coolest wall ever!! love that shade of yellow :)
Groovy! LOL
Love all the natural light. Ouch - the couch - too busy for my tastes.
There's something very appealing about that particular arc lamp (and various other aspects of the apt too, of course....)
Very creative. You got my vote.
Too many house plants for my taste. But you have a sewing nook and a neat couch so I'll forgive you.
cvgmiami, lol!
LOVE IT!! The windows, the rugs! The houseplants - I love that you have so many. :) Lots of character, and so many interesting things to look at!
Thanks for making me realize I have a) no design sense and b) that I live in a shithole. Beautiful.
So that's what happens to blue jeans when they die...they get reincarnated as a sofa. Funky fresh.
¡plantas!
I love the harmony! Very original and obviously a home.
I am in love.
I personally love the amount of plants you have in your apartment.
I also adore how most furniture is set so low -- it makes the place look more spacious than 900 sq ft.
I am glad to see a place that has a urban/indie style look so personal. Most places that want to achieve this style usually end up looking like an ikea/unban outfitters catalogue.
I do love plants!! (Our last place was a bit larger and we had outdoor space.) I tried to consolidate most of them to the drainpipe and under the windows in the "living room", but as they make for good space separation, they tend to be in other parts of the space as well! i can't help it!
I got the couch a few years ago in the "as-is" section of a local furniture store. the upholstery had fallen on hard times. We really liked the shape and comfort, so rather than replacing or paying to re-upholster, i started patching over a year ago. it's a big project (8' couch), but in the end i think we'll end up with something personal and unique. we've used a lot of friends' old jeans and scraps from other projects!
Again, thanks for all the kind words everyone! Bethany, we would love to do a house tour! i'll contact you shortly. thank you
that couch is horrible! the rest of the space is awesome!
This is my favorite! Love the yellow wall, love the shelves, love love love the plants.
Disagree with above, the couch is fabulous, particularly because it has a story. (Not sure about the pillows on it...)
The yellow wall is artful and incredible, and the photos make it feel like you are living in a classy greenhouse. I particularly love the plants on the wall shelves; you're lucky you have such fantastic light! The strange canvas rolling cart thing is not the most visually appealing, but I suspect it has an important purpose so I won't criticize. Your house is totally amazing.
That wall is incredible! The couch I'm not so crazy about -- I think I'd like the patchwork, if it wasn't denim. But I appreciate the story and it looks like tons of work went into it, so you are justifiably proud of it. All in all, fabulous. (And I covet one of those canvas rolling cart things...)
You should win just for having Clockwork Orange on the TV.
LOVE love LOVE love LOVE.
...That is all. :)
I LOVE IT! You guys really did something special here. I love all the handmade furniture and personal touches. It's nice that IKEA isn't all over this apartment. REALLY GREAT!!! YOU GOT MY VOTE!
I love everything about your place & your gorgeous little dog!
hey Adam-- We accept your proposal! I think that is a sweet idea, and our cocker spaniel and your wiener dog would makes awesome play pals. Love your style.
Rich-
That wall is about to be SO FAMOUS!
Thanks! The wall was taped off and painted. The rug I got like 6 years ago for $80 or something like that.
This was my first favorite. Gorgeously bohemian! So much personal personality.
i am absolutely in LOVE with that yellow wall. genius. i think that a house can never have too many house plants. they provide so much more life. i love this place! great job! can't wait for the house tour!
the plants are so well-incorporated into your space; I may consider adding some to mine now that I've been inspired by yours . . .
I love the plant life in this home! To me, nothing makes a home feel more alive than an abundance of strategically placed plants.
Your apartment incorperates everything essential in a home; plants, pets, sunlight, a splash of color and a persian rug. Love it.
Your space has such a nice visual texture to it. Love all the plants too. I wish I could keep up with plant care, but water-once-a-month cacti are the best I can do.
AWESOME COUCH!
I need that couch.
Hey, Thanks again for all the comments! And thanks for the couch comments too.
you had me until i saw that couch
very original and cool couch...love the plant life
