The nurseryworks square changing table is the worst purchase I ever made in my life. The design is appallingly bad. The slide out tray inside often will not close adequately making it impossible for the front door to close. It is somewhat tricky and dangerous to open the front door if your baby is on the table because it swings so wide...you can hardly keep a hand on the baby while you move yourself out of the way to allow for the door to swing open. To top it off the door hangs askew and the insde drawers are very hard to pull out. The base legs are out of square and the unit weighs a ton. It also took almost a year for it to stop smelling of paint fumes. And it was delivered with dings and scratches. A VERY BIG DISSAPOINTMENT. I would give it away to anyone willing to haul it out of my house.

WOW!I finally find a review re: the Nurseryworks products, by someone who's actually used the stuff. I too am soooooooooo disappointed with Nurseryworks, and feel it was a poor purchase. I will not propose to any friend or family member looking for a modern nursery to go with their product line.
We bought the Ariel Crib and a matching changer, for our daughter, and have had nothing but problems.
I just want to start out by saying that I spent
a lot of time researching furniture for my first
child. I took quality, function, design, and safety into consideration. The design fit our urban lifestyle;and quality, function and safety appeared to be a high priority. The crib and dresser we saw in the showroom appeared to be real gems. However,after my 15months of owning the furniture, I must say, "appeared to be a real gem".
First of all, when our furniture was open and out of the boxes, there was no warning about the paint fumes. That was terribly frustrating for me. I'd just arrived home from the hospital with my newborn, only to find my environment invaded by what smelled to me, to be toxic paint fumes! It brought tears instead of smiles. We contacted Nurseryworks and were reassured all was safe and that it would just take some airing out time and wiping of the surfaces for the smell to diminish. Well, we've had our furniture for 15months, and our dresser still smells. Everything I put in it comes out smelling like the fumes. Granted it's not the heavy smell like it was, but there's still a smell. We went the first two months w/o even using our nursery due to the highly nauseating smell. (Also, the shelves are coming away from the walls and the cabinent door doesn't work correctly)
We had finally brought ourselves to use the
nursery,only to discover that when the mattress was in place in the crib, we couldn't drop the railing! The mattress was the recommended size, so what was going on? My husband tried and pieces of plastic off the mechanism came flying off,and the whole side popped off. We re-fixed the railing and tried again. With no luck, the process repeated itself. So, for 3 months, I left the railing fixed in the lower position. After 3 months, I had to keep the railing in the fixed upper position, breaking my back everytime I put her in and took her out. Then, I discovered if I was very careful, I could oh so slowly lower the railing and then work it back up. There was a lot of resistance, but I could do it. Then, recently, the darn railing jammed in place. Half way down the crib! The bolts on either side had unscrewed themselves into the railing mechanism! So, our daughter went into a pack-n-play and we've not used the crib since! I'm so angry. Initially, the owner said she'd send someone over to evaluate the situation, but that was way back when. I've tried to contact Nurseryworks again, and now, they don't get back to me. I just want give it all away too. The look is fabulous. It's very modern and fun! However, the quality and function is deplorable. For the kind of money we shelled out, we deserved better.

I wish my wife and I saw this post before we made a mistake of purchasing this furniture. It has been almost 9 months and the overwhelming fumes still exist. This is crazy; I contacted Nurseryworks numerous times, but still have not received a call back. I will give them another week and will contact my credit card company to see if they can help. It may look great but believe me, its garbage.
DO NOT BUY THIS FURNITURE. YOU WILL BE SORRY JUST LIKE WE ARE NOW.

This is an interesting post. I had never heard anything bad prior to reading this post. Is it any particular paint color or is it all of them? Has anyone else had experienced what the other posts have mentioned? This is very discouraging, we were all set to purchase but are now having second thoughts.

My problem (and that of friends) was that they didn't deliver anything on time. It took months of calls and false promises by them.

Our baby furniture arrived well after we key deadlines (like birth!).

I spoke with other friends who also had a similar experience. They just decided not to send her part of her furniture for months as well.

Such a joke. Buy DucDuc or Offi or even David Netto Cub first. I would use a cardboard box before I bought anything from them again.

We actually drove up to LA, and picked it up ourselves, when I was due any day. I wanted to be sure to have the nursery together. However, it was obviously in vain, since we weren't able to use it for months. I hope "Expecting" decided not to purchase their line. When we bought our stuff back in Fall of 05, there were no reviews out, and few modern baby furniture makers to choose from. We'd driven up to an upscale LA boutique to see in person, and it looked so cool. Perfect for our modern designed home. But I can tell you it was a complete waste of money. It just doesn't hold up or function. So what's the point in having something that looks cool, when it's falling apart, smelling of fumes and the paints cracking and chipping! Our crib and changer is all white. No color. One thing I also forgot to mention.......when you lean up against the changer, if you have jeans on, the button on your pants is sure to leave permanent grey marks on the changer, as well as potentially denting the furniture. The wood is extremely soft and the paint sensitive. The boutique we purchased through has an all sales final policy, or we would have returned! : (

I have the same problem with the changing table. TERRIBLE smell of fumes. My baby is 5 months old and I keep waiting for a change. Now I've taken all the clothes out of the drawers because I swear I can smell the fumes on the baby's clothes which drives me insane, especially since nurseryworks says on its website that all its paints and lacquers are low-voc, non-toxic, etc. I also called the company and no-one has returned my call. FYI, the installers who assembled it put small sachets of pot-pourri in each drawer which makes me think they know this is an issue. I'm furious. Don't buy this furniture. My door is also coming off its hinge too. Badly constructed. Such a disappointment for a piece of furniture that's $1200.

I'm so happy to see that others have had terrible experiences with Nurseryworks. I only wish that I had known this before I spent $1500 on a crib by them. Our crib broke after only 2 months of use, and I have had to fight with them for 4 months to get a replacement. It has taken this long because they refuse to return calls or emails, and my husband and I were so concerned with the safety of the crib, that we ended up buying a new one.
I have told everyone I know not to buy Nurseryworks products, and I have even alerted the stores that carry their products about the issues that we have had. Considering that we are the first of our friends to have kids, I hope that our friends take our advice and STAY AWAY FROM NURSERYWORKS!

I have the Macaroni bedding by Nurseryworks - I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT! It is very rough, even after repeated washing. While it is modern and stylish, I do not let my baby sleep on it because it seems very uncomfortable. Instead, I bought white jersey that match with anything. They are soft and comfortable, and I use the Nurseryworks blanket and pillow on my glider.
Overall, COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY! I only use the blanket and pillow, and the bumper pads and sheet are kept in a closet. Save your money and buy a cool pillow that doesn't come in a set.

Nursery Works is an absolutely terrible business. I would never order anything from them.

If you do, plan on waiting for months to have it shipped to you. Also plan on having it be broken when it finally arrives.

DO NOT BUY anything Nurseryworks! It is not what it's cracked up to be! I purchased the goodnight glider on sale, I was very excited about this, it feels wonderful and looks cool... until I sat in it a couple times and started noticing marks all over it that wouldn't go away! They claim that their fabrics are stain resistant/scotch-guarded, yet a drop of water doesn't go away - ever! It makes no sense.

I contacted them, sent them photos, and they rejected my complaint, basically calling me a liar, saying I sat in it with oils and lotions on. Well I didn't, only once with damp hair, once I left a slightly damp towel on it, and a couple drops of water from my skin after showering, and it is stained, marked up all over the place...I even tested a piece to make sure I wasn't crazy with a slightly damn sponge and the stain still has not gone away!!!! They tell me to use a little water to clean any stains, yet water is staining it? My barely used glider looks like crap now and our baby isn't even here yet. I cannot imagine how it will look from breastfeeding, or after we have a kid running around. Horrible!

I purchased the crib From a retailer in Los Angeles, and I will say, It was a longer wait than I intended, but well worth it! The furniture is beautiful, and compared to duc duc, the quality is superior. I had to pay for the pieces to be installed, and this was alot better than I expected. The nurseryworks guy was an hour early, which surprised me. I have had previous installers for furniture that were days late.... I read comments prior to buying from nurseryworks, and was a little skeptical, but would definitely refer this company to anyone i knew! the crib takes a little getting used to, as far as moving the rail up and down, but works perfectly. I see alot of complaints regarding this here, maybe you are just doing it wrong??

I looks nice from the pictures and the ladies on the phone seem nice and attentative but thats all before.....I'm too fed up with these ignorant, rude, customer-hating people to go in to details: I'll not even try to describe the state in which the goods arrived, let alone the fumes it brought with it. I will save you from describing the poor quality of the bedding and of the ugly replies I got on the phone: This company deserve a good bankruptcy: Worst value ever, worst customer service, worst everything. Consider yourself warned....

We were so excited to find such cool, modern looking baby furniture for our nursery. After just a few months of having it set up, nail pops & cracks started to appear all over the dresser and changing table. When I finally called Nurseryworks, my phone calls were not returned so I decided to send an email. Apparently, my warranty expired so they offered to sell me more furniture. I was told that they have never had any complaints about their furniture before. I am the only person who has been dissatisfied with the quality?... not what I am reading online. Terrible customer service & awful quality. I would never recommend doing business with this company.

We wanted modern, eco-friendly, ultra non-toxic nursery furniture and I scoured the internet for reviews on Netto, Nurseryworks, Argington, Oeuf, and Spot on Square. We wanted the extra space on top of the changing table for diapers, wipes and butt cream. Nurseryworks Aerial changing table had the extra space and the matching Aerial crib was attractive. However, after reading these reviews, I had decided on other furniture. A sales agent at totsnstyle said that Nurseryworks had growing pains in the past and with the 2010 merger with MDB there should be no issues with delayed shipping and customer service. I took a chance and ordered Nurseryworks. In 2.5 weeks, I received boxes wrapped in plastic wrap on a wood pallet. Inside the boxes, each piece was wrapped in foam sheets, bubble wrap, and thick foam cushion ... so there were no scratches or dents. Please note that the furniture is made in china (probably the reason it is more affordable than Netto Moderne). The changing table did have a strong smell, but we left the wood drawers open to air out and within two weeks the smell dissipated. The furniture is beautiful and I am hoping it holds up to use!
