My apartment is 75 ft. away from the beach and I enjoy the indoor/outdoor lifestyle. I needed to create a
casual living environment that could sustain the elements outside... along with the ocean breeze comessand and dust. I tried to enhance the material/textures that were already in the unit, the terrazzo floor, wood details inside and outside, industrial metal beam that frames the unit and the flat stucco (looks like concrete).

Since my unit is long and contains no walls I decided to break up the space with a modular book shelf and create a reading area. The modular unit allows me to change the configuration and placement of the bookshelf in my apartment. I took advantage of the wall space by purchasing a projector which enables me to have a 72 inch viewing area. My audio unit doubles as my TV speakers and a stereo. Since the projected image isn't visible during the day, I purchased a Sony LocationFree (wireless) TV which allows me to view TV/surf the internet downstairs and upstairs. I also set up a wireless network that allows me to work on my laptop outside, downstairs, and upstairs in my loft.

Design Tip:

Hide media components. It adds too much clutter and is
not visually pleasing.
