I am wondering if anyone has good/bad things to say about products from
Sleeksofas.com or Modernsofa.com
Some of their sectionals are very close to what I am looking for and there prices are much lower than the italian options. Is it too good to be true?
If anyone has any other options for slick modern blocky sectionals I would love to check them out.

While we haven't had any experience with either of these stores, you will get what you pay for. Sleek Sofas looks a little cheesy, their prices are way too low. Modern Sofa is much nicer and their prices are good, but don't raise questions. We would trust this one if their customer service and swatch program were in fine order. (Thanks, Todd!) MGR

Sleeksofas seem to be a burgeoning industry of outlets selling Italian knock offs made in China. I started seeing them on eBay a few months back, and the prices were too good to be true. The drawback at the time was that they are all custom, and sometimes people had to wait many months before getting delivery. Once delivered though, they seem to like it okay.
I'm not sure about the quality in person, having never seen one, but in their picture you can see that the workmanship is kinda of sloppy, particularly the fabric/leather is not tightly shaped to the sofa.
Modernsofa on the other hand, looks professional in their marketing material.
The way I think about you get what you pay for is compared item/prices to Ikea's. If Ikea, with all their sales volume can't demand a better price on their product from manufacturers all over the world, then it seems hard to me that anyone can beat them at their game. But perhaps these guys are running a much leaner operation than Ikea.

I am also a bit suspicious of modernsofa because they aren't using real pictures on their site, but 3D rendering models. Probably the same goods as the Sleeksofas, shangrilachina, etc.
i just bought a sofa from modernsofa.com and i am a bit dissapointed in the how the whole ordeal went. i should have trusted my instincts when i ordered swatches and they never came. i called them and they assured me that i would have my sofa in about 4 weeks but it really took almost 8 weeks to get here. then when it finally did arrive i didn't like it at all. it was as stiff as a board and when i asked if i could return it they said i would have to pay for the shipping to me and to send it back which was just way to much. if anyone want one of these, maybe just for looks and lives in the san fransisco area... email me.
Just bought a new recliner sofa that gives me a stiff neck when I recline. Any way of softening up a stiff sofa?
So, along the same lines, I found a piece i like from ligne rosett, it is the section type sofa bed, this if for the soon to be converted guest room to office/ entertainment room. I have not gone in yet to get a price quote, but I'm sure it is more than what i want to spend. It is the Smala. Any one know of a more affordable alternative. I did find a piece from Shangrila that i like, but still looking.

I have no reason to beat around the bush, I'm not going to pretend to be a reg. consumer and say how great Sleek Sofas furniture is. My name is Justin and I work for Sleek Sofas!!! I'm the Sales Manager. I can't believe what I'm hearing on this message board! J/K, I can understand all of your concerns about questioning my quality and its price. I hear it a 100 emails and calls a day. I can't speak for modernsofa because they really dont look like there that well setup. But for speaking on my behalf, we are very well organized and our quality control is excellent.
Im sure your probably saying "ya ya ya right" to what i'm saying, but its the honest truth. Im here to straighten the reputation out about my company and its products. Before we started making our own modern furnishings, we sold it which was produced by other designer companies that your familiar with. Believe it or not, we pulled apart 5,000-10,000 dollar furniture to see what made there methods so special compared to everyone else's. There were some major differences, and its not just the design your paying for, there really is some detail put into there pieces. We started manufacturing our own sofas 3 years ago, and its true, we do produce our line in China.
But besides the points that we learned from dismantling 10k sofas, we did improve on certian things that they missed. We mearly manufacture our product in China to maintain a larger production facility and keep product cost down in your favor. Within that time, we have produced over 200 styles to date and growing.
Like someone descibed on this board, we do have similiar styles as the original designs you talked about. We produce designs that people want, and that look great. Theres so many great things I can say about this company and so little room to type. Please, put our quality and service to the test and contact me for any questions, concerns, or comments, we won't disappoint. ordered swatches from planetsofa-probably an affiliate. haven't ordered sofa but microfiber swatches rivaled upholstery @ mid-level retailers and were received within 3 days.

Have ordered a sofa from sleeksofas, kind of nervous about it. Will update you on my experience with them. The prices were very compelling and the swatches were very good quality leather and received in 2 days. So far customer service is ok.
I bought a sofa from Shangri La - it took about 12 weeks to get here, but I am pleased with the quality, and the sofa makes the room (gorgous platform sectional). I spent around $2,300 for a sofa (and ottoman) that would probably cost at least $6,000 if bought locally. I would buy from them again. I didn't order swatches, so can't say how that would go. They emailed pictures of the sofa once it was completed, but before it was put on a boat. The only drawback in quality is that the the nail or screw holes in the wooden platform aren't filled in as well as I'd like - there are little humps over where the fasters are, but you don't really notice except on the ottoman.
I bought a sofa from Shangri La in 2004. It arrived five months after I ordered it. The premium leather I ordered was phenomenal, but the foam back cushions were unreasonably hard, and the webbing under the cushions kept nudging me toward the middle of the sofa when I wanted to sit at the ends (a common problem with cheaper sofas). The seating area itself was a bit cramped, mostly due to the hard back cushions that wouldn't give. After 3 months of use, the frame of the sofa broke when a rather heavy buddy of mine plopped onto it.
I have mixed feelings about the sofa, but I think if I move back into a small apartment, I would roll the dice again with the Corbusier sofa and chairs, which have metal frames and ought to hold up better. Again, I would pay extra for the premium leather.
I hope Shangri La sticks around. Their prices are terrific, especially with the designer knock-offs.
Just an update about my order from sleeksofas.com. After 7 weeks or so, they gave me the option to cancel and get a full refund. I took that option and have yet to see the refund, it has been a month since they sent a confirmation of the full refund.
No response to emails, no one picks up the phone.
Definitely not to be trusted.
Sleek Sofas has great modern furntiure. With reasonable prices. I have order a sectional with them. Just got it last week. I have to say that it look great in my livingroom. Sleek Sofas Customer Service is great. They are always answeing the phone and answering my email on time. If i have to buy other section in the future i will but it with SleekSofas.com

We ordered a sofa from Sleek Sofas half a year ago back in July, 2006. We still have not received it. Have contacted them every way we can think of to find out what's going on - phone, email, postal service - and they ignore us. Of course, they have our money.

I ordered a sofa set from sleek sofas back in August 2006 and still haven't recieved it, and I also have tried contacting them with phone, and email and nothing! They also have my money. I am really getting worried about this situation and don't know what to do. Any suggestions. The only person in customer service that I have dealt with is Mary or Alex, and it seems that management is also Alex, or both. They seem to be like a two man show, and management always is in China, or something odd. So does anyone think they really have showrooms as they state on the phone, because no one picks up. I don't know but I really want to crack down on this operation.

They have multiple complaints against them already and the good ol' BBB gives these guys an 'F' rating! The world needs to be warned about Sleek Sofas!

Thanks for your reply back. I completely understand your frustration with SleekSofas, because I am going through the same thing as you are. I sent you an email back, please call me to further discuss this situation. I can also send you emails that were sent to me by sleeksofas. It seem that this company is a scam. Does anyone have any ideas how to get our money back? Is it possible to take them to court (civil court?), even if I live out of state from sleeksofas (located in CA, supposedly in two locations, but who knows). I just want to know how they are getting away with such a scam. They are all over the internet and advertised in different states, yahoo, ebay, furniture sites, and others. Looks like they also use sleeksofas.homestead and other alias websites as well. Who knows...what this is really about. They must also have several violations at customs, but they state they are only a reseller and they just pick from a shared designated warehouse. Ugh!

Yes McRice, this company is indeed a scam, I am sorry James and I are dealing with the same run around from this "Alex," who is also known as Alejandro Garcia. Please post on BBB and www.dca.ca.gov for both company names: E2A Enterprises and Sleeksofas. He uses several names for this business, and its a complete scam. I have called and emailed several times with no response. However, I am going to take this company, or him to court if he doesn't provide a refund to me very soon. Goodluck!

I think this is a one man show, because Alex/Alejandro Garcia is the president of both E2A Enterprises/Sleeksofas in Moreno Valley CA. He has several phone numbers and addresses for both these companies and himself listed all over the internet in various yellow pages ads, to furniture websites.
He is also on myspace trying to scam more people! I am going to see if I can report him to myspace, as a identified scam.

Are these negative postings real or just one angry customer that is not happy with them or their service?
It just seems funny how there was no activity in this board for months and suddenly it gets all these postings day after day, I also checked the BBB like some of these other people did and it is the same thing all of the sudden they just started to pop up.
All I'm saying it seems unfair to judge these guys based on these type of postings, where anyone can make up different names and pretend to be a different person on each posting.
I visited their showroom about 1 1/2 years ago and Anthony was very pleasant and helpful. We order a sectional for our downtown loft and we got it in about 13 weeks.
I mean come on, anyone that shops online from a company that brings their stuff from overseas, knows that the lead times are not always exact and that problems are likely to be expected.

McRice & Danny: If you haven't received them already, you should have refunds coming from Sleek Sofas. Scarlett emailed me that she demanded that Alex - alias Alejandro Garcia - send her one and he finally did. He also sent Laura and me one too, even though we really just wanted the sofa we ordered. His refund implies that he can't perform on getting it to us despite us having ordered it half a year ago. (I can't be sure about this, though, because I tried to contact him and he seems to have gone back into hiding again; in any case, he can't be reached.)
Lydia: Despite the similarities between Sleek Sofas and Shangrila with regard to inventory/price/location, I do believe these to be totally different companies. At least, I hope so because we are going to order the same sofa from Shangrila that Sleek Sofas couldn't get to us. Good luck to you (and to us!)
On the subject of shangrilafurnish and other internet modern furniture companies- i found one that also has great sofas at great prices- i am obviously leery of these companies but the prices are just so great- this one is called inspireddecorators.com- anyone ever heard of it? they really have nice sofas at great prices but im hesitant to order. any info would be appreciated.

Im wondering if they purchase from shangrila(they supposedly own the china factory). shangrila has very high shipping prices(lower sofa prices) whereas, the others include their shipping in the price- making it fairly comparable even a bit less!

I called and left a messge on sunday and got a call back that same night. I ordered on monday afternoon and got the set on friday. The website was not very professional but I did my research this time and got tracking information right away. Everything went really smoothly.
They don't have a lot of selection but they had what I had wanted so everything worked out.
Jack what you wrote makes some sense, but the fact is there is no anthony at sleeksofas so I think you may be Alex. Alex there is no need to right things about sleeksofas because you and I both know what you continue doing to customers. I know you...Alex have been reading this board. I placed my order with sleeksofas.com in October and just received the furniture in the beginning of February. Yes, it did take longer than the stated 8-12 weeks. But I am extremely pleased with the furniture. It was completely affordable and the quality of it is great! During the whole process, I contacted sleeksofas.com through phone and email and they would always get back to me in a timely manner. They apologized for the delay in my order and gave me a discount. It was greatly appreciated and they went out of their way to make sure I was pleased with my furniture. While I was waiting for my furniture, I questioned the legitamacy of this company also! I was scared I was a victim of scam, but this company is far from that!

One thing that's obvious to everyone from these posts is that sometimes Sleek Sofas delivers and sometimes they don't! Guess that's why they got the F. Order from them at your own risk!
Hi Jennifer and Victor, I would love to talk to you about your experience with Sleeksofas.com. Last week I was told by the company that no customers have received orders for months. I was told that they had to change manafacturing sites and all orders were backlogged. McRice: One possible explanation for what you’re experiencing with Sleek Sofas is that Mary is indeed telling you the truth about how the company has not been able to make a successful delivery to anyone for months, and that the postings from ‘Jennifer’, ‘Victor Baev’ and the latest, ‘Philip’, about how they’ve happily received their orders are totally bogus and are coming from Alex or one of his minions simply to counter the negative publicity his company has received on this forum. Or maybe I’m 100% wrong: Maybe these postings are completely legit, in which case Mary is lying through her teeth. Either way, Sleek Sofas has a serious problem with truthfulness.
McRice: Yes, I waited an extremely long time for my furniture! I waited very close to 16 weeks. They notified me that they switched to another manufacturing company also. I guess I was one of the lucky ones and didn't have to wait even longer for my order! Well, the most I can tell you is that sleeksofas.com is a reliable site! I'm sure there's a reason for the delay, and I guess all I can say is be patient. I was, and I received my furniture! I am completely satisifed with it! Trust me, it was worth the wait!

I wish I'd found this website prior to placing an order with sleeksofas. I ordered a sofa in June 2006 and after six months I finally decided to cancel the order for a full refund. I've been waiting now 3 months for a refund check. This is ridiculous. Customer service is not up to part. I filed a complaint with the BBB and have now filed a complaint with the FBI for online fraud. I really just want and need my money back from this company.
Sleek sofas is the real deal. They take care of there customers. I order some stuff from them and recieved it in a timely manner. The quaility was great and I have no problem with it. I even recommend people to them. There customer service was also great.
Sleeksofas is horrible. I made an order for a sofa back in June 2006. They said it would be at my place in Sept of that year, but I hadn't received it. They promised me a discount, so I waited longer. Come November, not only did I not have my sofa, but they could not tell me where it was nor what stage of construction it was in.
I finally called it quits and requested a full and complete refund at the end of November. Mary had received this email, and processed the refund.
In January of 2007, I had still not gotten my refund and Mary sent me an email requesting if I wanted my email. Yes, much to my dismay they had not even started processing it yet. Unbelieveable.
After constant talks with Mary, she said the accounting department (Who they cannot disclose for whatever reason - I'm assuming it's E2A Enterprises - ie. Alex) would send the check out on Feb 21st.
I called them today since it is now the middle of March and I haven't received my money yet. I talked to Connie (Who, now that I think about it, sounds a lot like Mary) and she told me that they sent it out March 8th, and then rebutted that and told me that they hadn't sent it out at all.
Obviously my frustration is growing exponentially. This company is a scam. Don't not buy from them.
If you had bought from them through a credit card, request your money back within 60 days. Do not listen to promises of discounts. After 60 days, the credit card company can no longer legally 'charge back' your money, and getting a refund will become much, much harder.
I highly question the legitimacy of the "people" who post on the board saying they received excellent service.

That will carry more weight than anything you will read here. (Mike: Your story is almost identical to ours and I agree with you regarding the legitimacy of some of the postings here that keep parroting "Sleek Sofas is great!!" over and over again like some sort of mantra. Even if there were thousands of these postings, with each one using a different name, it would not change what the BBB says ==> 'F'.)
Our furniture arrived in around Dec and it looks even better than I imagined. I was a little nervous about ordering furniture through the internet (I had a bad experience with IKEA), but I am glad that I used sleeksofas.com. The quality of the furniture is outstanding--better than anything I could find here in SW Wisconsin. Alex/Mary was great to work with and promptly returned my phone calls or emails when I had a question.

We have just one question for you: How do you decide from day to day whether you're going to be a man or a woman??
LOL Alex (Alexa??) may have used six or seven different names (male & female) to post bogus positive messages here about Sleek Sofas to try and fool us, but I just checked the BBB website and the number of complaints filed against him has just hit an all-time high of 10! Hey, Alex, you need to post a few more "Sleek Sofas rocks" messages 'cause you're falling behind! LOL (And don't forget to mention their "great customer service"!! LMAO)

Wow, I am genuinely freaked out! I ordered from SleekSofas this January, and the scheduled delivery is a week from now. I called them a few days ago, and the girl at customer service told me she didn't have any information on the status of the sofa, but that she would email me once she found out. I haven't received any emails yet, and was looking for their phone number online, when I came across this message board. I am REALLY hoping that I don't have the same bad experience as most people on this forum. Arghh.. and I have been waiting so anxiously for my sofa..
Stay on top of them and don't cut them any slack. If they fail to deliver, contact your credit card company and file a complaint here.

I had posted on this site a while back on sleeksofas. Sleeksofas is a company that is fradulent. It seems as if there have been complimentary fake posts about this company made by the 2-3 people that work at sleeksofas. I think the only people that work at the company to date are Alex and Connie. Connie seems new but the operation is run by Alex..Alejandro Garcia who is president of the company. I confirmed this with the City of Moreno Valley CA. However, they have an old address and a home phone number listed for this company that are not valid. From the time I placed my order last August, sleeksofas/Alex had changed his address three times in that span, ending in January.
People that are looking to order from this company should ask/contemplate the following questions...
1. Why is this company rated F? Would you want to order from a company with a national BBB rating of an F?
2. Why are there complaints about this company? If there are these many complaints that spell out the same problems... then they have to be somewhat true and why would anyone want to take such a risk?
3. Why is this company run by 2-3 people? Especially, when the company has an internet storefront made to look like its a corporation?
4. Why doesn't anyone ever pick up the phone at customer service, sales, operator, and the stores listed? In fact this sometimes is even forwards to a cell phone.
I think with these and many other questions, one would logically come to the one conclusion of sleeksofas? Not ligitamate, fradulent, and not trustworthy.
sleeksofas/Alex doesn't care about customers because he just wants to get money for nothing.
I personally have tons of research on this company and Alex has taken off several things that I described above. However, I have everything, so please email me if you may need a case against sleeksofas.
Recently, a lawyer from Riverside CA called representing the State of CA, because of my complaints and he is compiling a case against sleeksofas. I don't mind providing this information if anyone wants to e-mail me and is trying to get a resolution to his/her situation with sleeksofas.

Oh NO! I just found this site and read all the postings and am now quite worried about the sofa I ordered in December. Please someone tell me that they actually got what they ordered. I am sick with worry. Help me someone, please.
Sleek sofas should be called slick sofas as in scam artist I hope there are enough people to try to recoupe some of the losses experienced as a result of doing business with them. They do not even answer their phone or e mail now and I am sure they are running off with everyone's money now or seeking to scam others I have been burned by them and am out 2k in this case you do not get what u pay for u get nothing. for almost a year now I am trying to get the company to at least provide the merchandise paid for.
Guys, i have also been scammed by sleeksofas. I ordered in jan, and after 15 different excuses, the latest one is that the furniture is being held at customs for clearance and they can do nothing about it.

I've been dealing with sleeksofas for about a year now.
I orginally ordered my sofa on November 19, 2006...I have just recieved it!!! (October 28th, 2007- almost a year).
Sleeksofa is horrible, I have not heard from the company in about three months...In the last email, i received a waybill number to track my shipment. I attemped to track it online, but the sofa seemed to be lost in space, again!!!
I finally got intouch with the shipping company and after about another month of waiting, they actually delieved my sofa...I just can't beleive it!!! As you know these sofas are paid in full upfront, but the delivery company came to the door with a $450 COD. Needless to say I was really pissed. The shipping company ended up working it out and told me the COD was a mistake. I wish i found this site earlier, i thought i was the only one sleeksofa was trying to screw.
I am technically still waiting for a discount check of $150 from Sleeksofa...I'm not holding my breath.
Even though it's been a whole year since i ordered my sofa, I'm actually happy to have recieved it at all. Now i just have to figure out what to do with the sofa i bought in the meantime =)

For Sleek Sofa's I have a direct contact number for Alex Garcia. The number is 866.753.3576 extension 86. Also, 909.782.5899. I wouldn't do business with these people. I found a better company called Stendmar in Ontario CA. They actually have a verifiable warehouse that you can see the furniture.

Sleeksofas imported sofas from China, in fact it is ShangriLa. All messes of sofa like delay, bad quality are from ShangriLa. ShangriLa delayed, then Sleeksofas delay, but when ShangriLa made mistakes, Sleeksofas didn't refund you guys. Finally Sleeksofas established it production line in China, but now it is closed. Who know where is Alex now?
