On retreat this week, news of the unrivalled destruction and loss of life on the other side of the globe has totally distracted us from our relatively unimportant mission...writing a book. Beyond lives, these are homes and villages that have been lost.
Whole communities. The scope is beyond our imagination.
If you are a reader and have done nothing yet, please join us in donating to this one of these two charities (out of many) that are doing relief work right now: Habitat for Humanity and The American Red Cross (their website was impossible to get to earlier).
And since we won't know if you do, feel free to leave a comment below and share your thoughts. MGR

$100 is on its way and it feels great.
Also, be sure to check with your employer - many have matching fund programs that can double your donation just by filling out a form.
My company matches 100%.

I feel so helpless on the other side of the world!
While initial monetary donations are desperately needed, continued support is vital. We plan to make a donation each month to help ongoing efforts, even after our attention as been distracted by our own lives or Britney Spears next marriage.
It is wonderful that you have made a suggestion. We have already donated to Red Cross, CARE, and UNICEF. As the news got worse and the numbers of deceased climbed everyday, we felt compelled to give again and again. It is a staggering event that is hard to comprehend, but every little bit we can do will make a difference. Please give what you can, but also remember this is something we should all do throughout the year, emergency or not. There is almost always someone less fortunate than yourself.
