Ring-a-Ding Rings are a beautiful symbol of commitment to a person, an idea or a cause. In our own soppy way, we have been drawn to rings since reading The Lord of the Rings as a teenager. Finding a ring design worth wearing is another matter.
We found our favorite ring in a small Japanese store, Niwaka, where we bought this one on the right for SKGR. It is called Dawn (right), and it is shaped like two arms reaching around in an embrace.
But we wanted a ring too, so SKGR bought us an engagement ring (why should the world only think one part of a couple is getting hitched?).
So, here's the pitch: We propose that engagement rings be given on both sides of a couple, and that they should not be BIG ROCKS, but small, elegant items for wearing everyday (unlike Mrs. Trump's new 15 carat monster)...
Whether you are man/man, man/woman or woman/woman, engagement is mutual and it should be shown with both wearing a ring. And as far as bands go, we are off the regular, fat band and all for Niwaka's curved bands. Much more organic. Okay, that's our new lifestyle/design pitch, and we feel sufficiently out on a limb. MGR

I'd kill for your deck/patio.
love love love love love!
LOVE the floor to ceiling sheers and the awesome white floor. Very bright and looks much bigger than it is
Great terrace...nice and airy space, overall. But, points off for not screening the kinda messy looking bed. There are so many creative and affordable ways to do so. Light and air do not have to be sacrificed for privacy. (See Jay Robert's awesome 400 SF Chelsea loft...)
That bed is messy?
Honestly, swedes must be born with a decorating gene. Or they just have access to amazing things and spaces, who knows. I will experiment by marrying a man from Sweden and seeing if my babies rearrange their cribs ...
Ans the bed looks like it was styled for a photoshoot. What messy bed are you guys seeing??
@ azaleasmoke, my thoughts exactly. That bed is messy? And unfinished? Because it doesn't have a tufted headboard and white and grey bedding with appropriately whimsical silhouette accent pillow? Sigh.
I love all the little contrasts and the perfectly laid back vibe... and yes, that includes the (incredibly comfortable looking, and so fluffy!) bed.
oh..the Display Opportunities (first pict) ..I gape..
What a lovely home. My favorite is your glass-front cabinets, but I love the air full height curtains, use of antiques with simple lines, and the beautiful (not messy!) bed.
looks so spacious and airy. can't believe its 613sqf!
so beautiful! looks like it should be in a magazine!
The chairs for the dinning table are different in one picture. At first I thought I was seeing two different dinning areas. Lovely apartment.
OMG, I too would kill to have a terrace like that...I can just imagine myself sitting with a cup of coffee...I can only dream. Love your sense of style, you have a beautiful home!
gorgeous apartment. And whoever thinks that bed looks "messy or unfinished"- like really? Seriously?
I must have those cabinets.
Beautiful, but I don't understand the layout of this space. Are there two dining sets? Where is the bed in relation to the other furnishings?
Re. Your comments about the dining set: Pic's are taken at two different occasions, and I like when not everthing is perfect, so now there are mixed chairs!
*sigh* How elegant and bright! A favourite, to be sure.
I do believe I am quite jealous! It's amazing!
i am in love
Ah those Swedes, always raising the bar for the rest of us :)
Re aychihuahua's comment on "the kinda messy looking bed". In my opinion it is not at all untidy, "messy" in that sense, but it is visual overload. A dozen pillows, so many patterns, and surely it is a long task to get it all looking just so every morning? I'd be happier seeing that beautiful velvet throw allowed to speak more loudly. But that's just me. Overall so much that is lovely here.
Elegant, mature, designed but completely livable. I love it.
Beautiful light and terrace. I love to live in this space. The bed dressing does look a bit out of place to me (compared to the rest of your decor/furnishings). I would imagine something more streamlined but sleeping I know is a very personal thing and what feels comfy to dive into may be different than what it looks like.
Very nice!
I hope you tell us who makes those cabinets with the glass.
I am sure they won't be available in the U.S., but it would be nice to know, should I move to Europe.
Beautiful apartment.
LOVE this!
Great space! Every picture is breathtaking. Wonderful home indeed!
OH the Light!
I love it. Amazing how white walls (and sheers) turn into a compelling "accent" when paired with warm and beautiful furnishing. Just a beautiful home.
Fabulous, and I loooove those gorgeous inset bookcase-cabinets!!
Thanks for the great feedback on my flat! So many nice comments!
But - What is it about my Bedouin/Moroccan/Out of Africa day bed-bedchamber, that seem to annoy so many of you =) Interesting and obsolete view on decoration...
The glass-cabinet is made in Finland, I don't remember the name of the supplier, sorry!
The cabinets look like Villinki from Boknäs.

Yes!
on a scale of 1-10 of cool, chic, use of space this gets about... 25!!! fantastic job! just 60sqm and it looks amazingly spacious! many many thanx for sharing and inspiring us all! xx
*we would like some more pics plz! :D
The colours of the bedding wouldn't be my choice, but I don't think there's anything messy or overwhelming about it. If only I could make my bed so neatly!
I love this space! It's so airy and light :)
Jadore!
I love the open concept and how the "rooms" are tastefully done. You might be interested in a screen divider for your sleeping area. I recently purchased one in Overstock and you might love it! check out this link: http://www.overstock.com/Worldstock-Fair-Trade/Canvas-6-foot-Cafe-Terrace-View-of-Arles-Room-Divider-China/4749903/product.html
chach: Thanks for the screen devider tip, but I don't think so...
ck_arc1: Thanks for the high score =) And there's a limited numbers of pictures you can upload unfortunately...
God this space is fantastic. Marianne, I particularly congratulate you on using the bookcases with glass doors (I'm an enemy of dust.) Did you have those made or are they stock?
So sorry, I didn't read everything before I asked about the cabinets. Does anyone here know of similar cabinets available in the US?
mmm the space is beautifully done but personally, so much white isn't my favourite.
No. People. No.
No screen divider to ruin that beautiful flow.
And the whole place is private. I would live there in a heart beat, if I didn't have these kids. In which case, yes, I would need more privacy.
I LOVE this, beautiful!!
It's really only 613sq ft? In any case, it's a beautiful home.
beautiful. particularly proud to carry the last name of carlson right now. :) ha! do love the scandinavian design aesthetic. lovely home.
again, another Scandinavian home faintly reminiscent of a popular box store... nice.
Why all the snarky comments? This is easily in my top three entries for the entire contest!
(and I only WISH those cabinets were available at a big box store)
