Insta-room. We don't have any experience with The Living Space Company (yet), but they offer a possibly brilliant solution: LEASED pressurized room divider walls that can be installed in 1-3 hours and won't damage your walls.
The Living Space Company has been around for 16 years and their business is totally simple: they put walls up and take them down.
The average cost for a 3 year lease (12x8 wall) is $795 with a $200 deposit. You can choose from an assortment of doors and translucent panels to allow light through. Eric from Living Space says the average time people lease walls is only 18 months! They will do the installation while you are away and all info can be found on their site. (Thanks, CJ!) MGR

Hi anoninwilliamsburg,
Not sure if you'll ever see this, but if you do - can you tell me how you built your wall?
Use another company ... I had a cheap wall in my unit when i leased my current apartment. I found out the LivingSpace required that I put the lease in my name for about $700.00 and now they are saying that it is another $250 to remove the wall and loss of $200.00 deposit since i was supposed to call 20 days before and it is only 15.
They have always been nasty and hard to deal with!
Good luck
The only way I would do this is if I fell in love with a studio that didn't have a separate kitchen.
My building only works with living space, and when I moved in (via lease transfer) there was already a wall setup in my unit - which at the time I thought was great. Unfortunately, when I called last week to have them remove the wall I was informed that the prior tenant (who had ordered the wall and paid for it) breached contract by not informing them that they left the building. I argued with living space employees (see: crooks) on the phone until I was called by the owner, who told me that they're keeping the security deposit due the original tenant, and are charging me $200 plus tax to remove the wall. Hell no - I told them if they want their wall come get it for nothing otherwise it's being torn down by yours truly.
Crooked, not helpful, AVOID
