Great news this week for Detroit and mid-century architecture fans—Mies van der Rohe's Lafayette Park was designated a National Landmark by the Parks Service and the Department of the Interior on Tuesday.

Three other sites were awarded the designation: First Peoples Buffalo Jump in Montana; Colorado's Red Rocks; and the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Virginia.
