The bedroom is supposed to be a calm place, they say. A sanctuary. They tell you to choose simple styles and keep everything in the same neutral color family. But you know what? There's no one size fits all formula for a bedroom.

When you design a room, most experts agree you should pay mind to what you use the room for. And in the case of bedrooms, many will focus on the "going to sleep" part of the bedroom life cycle–inspiring those neutral, restful boudoirs. But what happens when we flip the script and try to design a room built around waking up?

I think it looks something like each of these bright and bold rooms, each featuring vibrant prints–on walls, linens and floors–that practically dare you to hit snooze.
