2005_3_24_doorman.jpgDon’t tell my agent, but sometimes it’s good to be an unemployed actor.

During the last month of kitchen renovations, I have probably spent a total of 40 hours sitting in my apartment, waiting for contractors, electricians and plumbers to arrive.

On the rare occasion they show up on time, there is always a construction question that arises that, if I were at a full-time job, I simply wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving a helpful neighbor to answer in my place. So I wallow in unemployment and try to stay out of the way.

Even if I trusted the contractors to work without my supervision, my building doesn’t have a doorman, so there’s no way to let them in. Add this to the three UPS deliveries I’ve missed since moving here, and I’m more desperate for a doorman than for a boyfriend.

Other people are certainly in my situation, but with full-time jobs; I constantly wonder how they manage.

By the way, if anyone’s concerned about how this unemployed actor is going to pay for his kitchen, so are this unemployed actor’s parents. TF
