I used to shop here all the time when I lived in Santa Monica. My apartment was just about 20 minutes away. Also next door to Weego is an amazing toy store and everything shop. I've been a collector of lunch boxes, tin toys, board games and other crazy objects like robet men, marbles, and space ships for years. Visit both if you can. Definitely one of my regular stops back home.

I just perused the website, and hmmm... While the furniture seems nice enough, the store doesn't really scream "destination" to me. Many of the accessories (other than the canvases and paint-by-numbers) are all things you can find elsewhere at every third home furnishings boutique in LA. The store appears to be almost too "edited"--I couldn't see myself lingering in there for more than a few minutes. I don't know... Maybe it's hard for me to like a store like this when so many of the design trends (at least in terms of the accessories) have been dumbed down by retailers/e-tailers like Urban Outfitters, Target, Hold Everything. Bottom line, if you're budget-constrained and willing to do some research and pavement-pounding, you could get many of these looks for considerably less money.

Enrique you've made a good point. I can name 5 stores in every major city from LA to NY that are all billing themselves as designer homewares and accessories. You're guaranteed to find in each of them items by Starck, Jonathan Adler, Angela Adams and more. While these kind of shops aren't chain stores, they might as well be because they all supply the same stuff. I think it's really just a matter of convenience in location. Shopping around is still the best bet. If you're in L.A. I'd still suggest going to some of the shop just north of the city in places like San Luis Obispo where the products are definite one-offs.

Dee, you're right. As far as convenience, Weego has the lock on this type of product on the Main Street area of Santa Monica. And their selection is vastly different from the stuff at the neighboring MOMA store at the Frank Gehry-designed mini-mall.

A note on the website, JIllian told me there is a ton more in the store than on the website and they are relauncing their website in the next few weeks. Might provide more "destination" for desitination shoppers, but we liked particularly how these folks didn't just sell other people's accessories, they also design their own.

I am feeling kind of uncool now, but I really like the furniture. It seems simulaneously deco and modern to me.

It's very hard to be unique in LA. Throw a a rock and hit a dealer of Richter, Stephen Anthony or Plantation designs. Perhaps it's a price war, who can sell it for less. "Nobody Strives in LA".
