wow wow wow. That house is wonderful. I never thought of myself as liking shaker style but I guess I was wrong. It is so warm and comfortable looking. And I could never imagine painting nice wood floors before but these really look great.

Like RR, I'm not a fan of Shaker style, but I also find this house wonderful: peaceful, serene, and lovely. This is a great way to live.

I feel strangely guilty saying this, but.... I dunno, the place is beautiful but it leaves me cold, in the same way that hyper-modern interiors leave me cold.
Its beautiful, its serene, it artistic, its a museum and wow, I bet those benches are not very nice to sit on. Where's your stuff? I am jealous of those who can effectively hide their stuff.
I love this place as art/pics only. I'm too much of a slob to ever live there.

Wow, the place looks so inviting. A complete 180-degree stylistically for me. But, boy, do I love it.

This house is in Tyringham, right near where we summer. Rumour has it that when the Fernside Shaker Village faded, its furniture was taken across the Valley and stored in a barn at Sunset Farms in Tyringham, where it remained for years. In the 70s, when Shaker style was coming into the public eye, someone rediscovered the stash and it subsequently made the farmer and his family very rich. Reportedly, every time one of the kids has to go to college, they just dip into the stock and sell a piece!

Sunset Farm is right across the street from the amazing Santarella Gingerbread House, one of America's most amazing pieces of folk / outsider architecture.

I am one of the farmer and his family across from the Shaker village. When I went to college, I paid for my education through hard work and so did my children. In fact, I did not 'have' to go to college, I went when I was 50. Please research your facts before you put them in print. The farm, which has been in the family for 7 generations is now a B&B.
