Dear D, what a fun table! We would recommend either sticking with dark wood or try playing steel off against it. Here's some recommendations:

• Aalto Stacking Stool fom DWR ($150): we would stain this
  
• The Frosta from Ikea ($13) ditto
  
• Salve from Ikea ($40): this is an interesting new shape
  
• Shinto stool from R&B ($279): the asian styling coordinates well with your table... MGR
