House Tour: Denver, Colorado

Copy of a - Office Desk.bmpWe break from the regularly scheduled program to bring you this message. While West 22nd Street continues to work on insulating the walls and ceiling, we take you to Colorado to peek into the house of a client (see Slideshow) who has just finished redoing her apartment with: our help over the phone, a painter and a carpenter/handyman. Our client not only cooks and entertains at home, but she also works part time from home, running her own company, Baby Wrap Inc., that manufactures and sells Baby Wraps, the natural way to carry your baby. Point being, her home office is important and needs to work well.

The photos will show you that a tremendous change of FEELING has occured with some simple physical changes. Here's the rundown:

The Bedroom
Reoriented bedroom - head away from the door
Changed the color scheme from warm to cool colors for better sleeping

Office
Installed Elfa shelving around the room to get all supplies off of the floor
Removed all doors to closets and living room to provide ease of access
Installed more lighting, and move sewing machine to window for natural light

Living/Dining Room
Removed all bookcases blocking door to office
Recovered couch and introduced new pillows
Rehung all pictures at 57" on center

This gives you the highlights. The entire thing was done on a strict budget, with the client overseeing all the work herself over the space of 6 weeks. The toughest part? Waiting for the shelving to be delivered from The Container Store (it's so popular, it's constantly on backorder). MGR
