Our apartment is very small, and we'd love one of the big drop-leaf tables you occasionally see in old, dusty houses. These tables have enormous leaves that fall almost to the floor, and, when closed, are only six inches to a foot wide. They seat six comfortably with both leaves up, but, because the leaves are rectangular, they seat two very nicely with only one leaf up. Josh
The type of drop leaf table Josh is looking for is an excellent solution for small apartments, and we have seen them only as antiques or as the less attractive modern versions at Gothic Cabinet Craft. Josh also mentions this one at Koo de Kir, which is similar.
We don't have a silver bullet here, but would Google among the Vermont furniture mafia ("vermont furniture") as well as "shaker furniture" and surf eBay to start. We would also image Google "drop leaf tables" to see where that leads.
If you have any ideas, please comment below.... (Thanks, Josh!) MGR

Jensen-lewis in Chelsea has a beautiful one (and expensive 1400) with a hydralic lift for the side leaves.
I have, what I thought was an expensive, Old English Gate Leg Table. I saw the exact same one in a web site that went for about $1,200. I put mine in Craigs list for $700 and was basically blasted by "people in the know" that I was selling a piece of junk....a reproduction. How the hell do you know what you have? There's no markings on it.......how the heck to ya know whats a reproduction and what's not..........I sent one guy a photo of the flat ware drawer and he looked at the joints and said it was a 1920's----1930's reproduction...... help!
I've been looking for the same thing so I thought I'd let you in on what I've found. It's called "The Linon Home drop leaf table" on the website: http://www.thefind.com it sells at walmart for $199 and then the site lists other sources. It comes in a nice walnut or natural with 4 folding chairs! Good luck with your search! Judy B.
