Hello AT,
I bought a gorgeous Duravit D19045-00 Starck 3 Two-Piece Toilet - White, for $398.75. It's a 12-inch rough in, and it turns out I have a 10-inch rough in. So now, I have this bloody toilet sitting in my studio in Chelsea.
I bought it online (faucetdepot.com), and they're based in California (I didnt realize!) and it's going to cost WAY more than the cost of the toilet to send it back to get a refund...

Do you know of any places that would buy a toilet (at a heavily discounted rate) to sell? Is there such a thing as a toilet consignment store? What would you do?
Thanks! Brooke
Anyone?

Craigslist it - people list things like this all the time.
Call some plumbers or contractors and see if your "rough in" can be changed inexpensively. Otherwise, list on Ebay.
i wish he hadn't used the word 'bloody' to describe the toilet.
Someone should pick these up! Fabulous toilets- I have the Starck 2 along with two wallmounted Starck 3's in my house. It's almost like artwork.
It's a beautiful toilet. You can call up some local interior designers (from yellow pages) to see if they want it for future projects. Faxing or emailing them this page would be informative.
Of course, Craigslist it is also a great idea. eBay might not be for you since it charges listing by week and it's rare that people shop for toilets on eBay. You'll be running risk for listing it for months.
haha- "miss" I was going to say the same thing. Please leave the "bloody toilet" out of the ad - it may have a better chance of selling.
I also *would* try eBay, and make sure to use key words like Starck and Duravit in the listing. Make sure to specify "local pickup only" and "will not ship."
Don't fall for upgrades like "bold" or more than minimum pictures. But make it a reserve auction. You should end up with fees under $10.
If it does not sell first round, you get one almost-freebie relist.

I had the same situation, with a new Toto. The plumbing supply store sold me a 10" rough-in, and my contractor installed - piece of cake, few $$.
Also, check to see if any of the reno blogs have classifieds or open notice boards.
sorry i have one already...

there's supposed to be something called an 'offset flange' available to handle the problem. i don't know if it goes up to two inches, but you should check with a big plumbing supply house if you are d.i.y.
