Hello AT,
I have been looking all over New York City and the Web to find a source for natural wool woven rigs, like the one shown in the attached photos. I think that it would look great with my mid-century modern living room furniture. And wool rugs are supposed to stain resistant, hypoallergenic, and durable.
Please let me know if you know of any sources of such rugs.
Thanks, Todd

Dear Todd,
We really like these as well. Crate and Barrel is always our first stop for affordable natural rugs and they might have one. There's two that we know they DO have - Pebbles and Celeste - which are more in the shag direction, but wool and nice.
We'd also go to ABC Carpet and see if you can find a good deal on anything there. They have a remnant and reduced price section in their basement which can very good.
We would also check out Sisalcarpets.com for a wool sisal that might be close to what you have in the photo.
Anyone else??

We recently picked up an 8 x 10, deep burgundy rug for $300 from this site (on sale). Shipping was free, I think, and the price was a fraction of what it would have cost at ABC (we looked).
There's this similar wool rug from Ikea.
ABC definitely has flat weave wool rugs, and are not terribly expensive (by ABC Carpet standards).
Viva Terra (ctalaog and online) has a great wool rug right now... it's not a flat weave, more nubby. It is undyed wool from both black and white sheep, so it has a great black and white look.
Try also Pier 1.
You photo looks like a berber style woven rug or carpet. You might want to look at a carpet store. They can bind the edges of the carpet making it into a rug.
i bought that Ikea rug that Arza posted and its actually very nice. its really soft and tightly knit and it seemed like it would be easy to clean and last a long time. unfortunately, it was a bit too small for my living room and i took it back.
aaronsons on west 17th Street has a great selection and individual salespeople to walk you through their inventory. sorry, they are closed on saturday and sunday.
i also picked up the Ikea LYNGBY rug, and i love it. 7x10 (doesn't seem to be available now) on sale for $90.
i can't speak for all wool rugs, but regarding stain-resistance... we recently spilled Izze pomegranate drink, and it just beaded up on top of the rug, and was easily soaked up without staining at all.
I also recently bought the Ikea Lyngby rug for about $109 for the 7 x 10. We like it a lot. I don't know why it was marked down so much, but it was a great buy.
Thank you everyone. I just picked up the Lyngby rug for $119 at Ikea. Almost exactly what I was looking for and for that price you can't go wrong.
Thanks again,
Todd
I personally love the natural bamboo look and I found out that there are shag, bamboo rugs. I've been researching the costs and was referred to bestbamboomats.com. http://bestbamboomats.com
