I had a very successful trip to IKEA this past weekend. Armed with my large blue IKEA tote bag and fortified by a frozen yogurt cone, I was able to hunt down (almost) every item on my list. Want to know what I purchased?
Raskog kitchen cart. A new item that we hadn't seen on our last IKEA outing. The Raskog is made of steel with nice gray epoxy coating. It's a great storage piece for art supplies or small toys. $49.99.
Barbar trays. I have several of these trays and picked up another this weekend. They come in handy during craft time - fingerpainting and play dough is easy to clean up using these trays. $6.99.
Sommarvind freezer bags. These are perfect to stow snacks for a long car trip or a picnic lunch. $12.99. (Disclosure: I didn't actually end up buying this freezer bag because they were out of the pattern/color I wanted).
Rens sheepskin. These well-priced sheepskin rugs are a great way to add a soft play spot on a hard floor. They're also great for cozying up a chair or bench. $29.99.
Lialotta plastic fabric. IKEA's version of oilcloth is a staple in our house. Sold by the yard, I buy it in pieces large enough to cover my dining table. Just remember to keep a few extra yards in the house and you'll never have to worry about messy kid projects. I love the black and white polka dots but other colors are available. $7.99/yard.

Howard Butcher Bloc...
Good tip on the fabric. I've been thinking I need oilcloth for some summer projects but am unenthused by the patterns online or the ones that are pretty are wicked expensive.
Ikea has a metal garlic press that is really good. It's the one where all the sections (including the handles) are cylindrical and the garlic section pops out. It gets nearly the whole clove through so there's little waste and comes completely clean in the dishwasher.
I'm also a fan of their metal tins in the kitchen section, sold as a nesting set of three, usually oval or rectangles. Wait for a pattern you like, they change all the time, grumble my mis-matched kitchen shelves. I like the tall ones for storing dry goods, and the flat ones in lieu of wrapping paper or for giving cookies.
the fabric is a great idea and definitely added to my list the next trip down to IKEA. Now that cart is awesome especially in the blue (on the website) but isnt at my store yet. Fingers crossed that it is coming soon!
I'm headed there this weekend, so thanks for the tips! I've never seen the freezer bag - I love that it's square. Will look for it.
Just went to IKEA last weekend -- So sad I missed the new cart and the oilcloth-like fabric! We already have a splat mat (laminated cotton fabric) under our high chair (IKEA of course), but are in need of another for the grandparents house and eventually more for an art corner. I will have to check it out next time we are there!
I love the sheepskins, but I noticed that they are now considerably thinner than they used to be. We bought one 2.5 years ago that is much thinner that one bought a few months ago.
I want that cart for my garage... well my hypothetical future garage. It looks great for wrangling tools.
Oh I NEED that cart - in turquoise - in my life right now.
