It's here! We always love flipping through IKEA's catalog. The catalogs are great tools for all kinds of inspiration even if you never make an IKEA purchase. Color combinations, creative use of materials, unique storage solutions and amazing styling are all covered. If you're like us, you have to go to a store to pick up a catalog (they never mail us one, no matter how often we request it). Thank goodness we can satiate ourselves with the Online Version...

There is a definite emphasis on all things RED in this catalog. We looked at the Linnarp Book Case & Storage last week and it is heavily featured even on the cover! We're planning a trip soon to bring back our own pictures and opinions after seeing some of this stuff in person.

That bed definitely looks nice! I guess I have a road trip to take too.
Did they put the stainless steel desk/table with the queen anne legs in the catalog!!?!? I can't find it online - but saw it there 2 months ago. LOVED it. WANTED it. GONNA (maybe) get it.
Ooh, the new items on those pages are looking GOO.
Why DOES Ikea have the online submission form for catalog requests when they never actually mail the damned things out?
I requested catalogs a couple of times a year for several years in a row, never actually receiving anything from them. The only Ikea catalog I've ever had in my possession was one I stole from someone who'd actually brought it home from the store.
I requested a catalog and recieved one in about a week or two.
I agree with Bruised. We don't have an Ikea here (nearest is Toronto at 5 hours and Long Island at 6 hours) and I actually have to BUY my catalog on eBay. Very annoying.
Of course Ikea is only now starting to come out with really cool European frameless kitchen cabinets (two years after I plunked down five figures for my Italian cabinets). I almost don't want to know how cheap they are... I could have probably furnished my entire house with the money I would have saved...
I Love Upstate-
Yes, it is in the catalog. I think the table is great too!
I just got that yellow bed and I totally love it. I guess anything beats sleeping on the floor, but it really is nice.
Lori - Thanks!! Oh man...I'm gonna torture the fiance next week. He lives for strapping crap to the roof of the car...NOT.
I requested one once and they send it every year. The only thing that sucks though is I live in America and the closest Ikea's by far are in Canada, so the prices usually are much higher even though the price of both countries dollars are not as different.
I must've won something...I got my catalog in the mail yesterday. I pored over it last night and loved the Linnarp, but unfortunately will not be buying it because I've decided that the new Official Accent Color in my apartment shall be blue.
Gravity's rainbow, I actually commented on that same fact on the Chicago AT... prices are really different (As in a 250% markup or 75% markdown). Overall, though, much cheaper in the US (dang.)
I think my mailman is looking at mine.
A new IKEA just opened last week in Portland, Oregon. It was a fun first visit - a reconnaissance mission. I will go back to see everything again - and pick up a catalog!
Meatballs were tasty, too! ;)
I was so excited to see the new (US) catalog online, then thoroughly disappointed when I realized that all the 'new' stuff has been in the stores here (Belgium) for months.
WANT.
And yeah, I am one of those people who apparently doesn't rate having a catalog mailed to them even if I beg.
hejirannyc, Ikea has been selling frameless cabinets for years. My parents installed one in 1997. I just did one last year, and not to rub it in or anything, but the prices are amazing. The cabinets for my entire kitchen (5 lower cabinets, 12 uppers) were under $3k.
Can anyone give me the link to request the catalog on IKEA's US site? I can never find it.
ask the bot on the website, if you swear at her she cringes. loads of fun
Hejiranyc,
Don't beat yourself up over it. Ikea kitchens can look great but high end kitchens can look even better. While both systems may use similar hinging hardware there are many other details that make them different. One of those differences are the finishes. The differences in finishes, even laminate, are huge. My intention is not to knock Ikea at all but to tell you that if you spent those figures with an un-named Italian company i.e. Valcucine, Arclinea, etc. you got a better crafted and installed product.
The Ikea catalog is like my design BIBLE !!(hey, I'm poor! Design Within Reach is out of my reach!) I have read and reread every page of the 2007. It lives in my Malm night table and I pull it out regularly for inspiration!
I usually get the catalog in the mail but usually it's a few weeks after it's been released. So I usually end up with 2 since I usually go to the store every other month.
BTW....I guess from the look of the images above, the 80's are, in fact, make a comeback.
I received the catalog yesterday. After reading the posts, I feel blessed. I think I purchased a few candles at Ikea 5 years ago.
Guess Ikea thinks I'm a big spender!
Hi,
I know this doesn't give you the right pricing, but take a look at http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/. There is a link to the online catalogue down in the right corner of the website.
And by the way - this is a great website and I love that you love danish/scandinavian design.
Have you all seen the IKEA be brave, not beige campaign?
http://www.bebravenotbeige.com/
I recently received the Ikea catalog and loved the BESTA storage unit pictured above. Does anyone know if it is wall mounted or does it sit on legs?
Also, where can I get the ceiling hung curtain rod (or one likeit) shown on page 140 in the catalog?
Thanks!
Doris
Anyone tried buying online from Ikea? Can you buy online from Ikea in the States yet? The Uk website keeps promising but they haven't set it up yet.
I really dig those bookshelves on the cover. Nice color and they look ROOMY.
I hate their website and the unavailability of products unless you live near an IKEA. Drives me nuts. Love that store.
I swear I saw this exact same catalogue in 1994. I was at the store on Thursday night and it felt kind of...meh.
Weird thing I saw in the cafeteria: enormous, counter-mounted sugar dispensers. You pull a lever and get free-flow sugar like you would pull a lever and get Lingonberry juice from the pop machine. Anyone else seen these?
Ok, um, so you are unimpressed by the catalog but fascinated by a sugar dispenser.
And that right there, P (too), is the joy of IKEA.
I am not going crazy! I went into the Emeryville (sf bay area) location and asked for the catalog.
The sales rep looked at me crazy and said they haven't even been printed til late August and I couldn't get one in the store.
Maybe this has only been available in the East Coast?
S
Dude, it was a BIG sugar dispenser.
Ikea has gone BAD. Not just with the catalog dea but also at the stores, and let's not mention about their website!!
I never received my catalog request via the internet either - so don't think you're alone. Lately ikea products has gotten smaller in size but bigger in price - check out some of their furniture pieces and you'll agree with me. Their stores advertise that they would have a designer to talk with you to help you with your purchases but their designers are never around and NEVER call you back. They don't even bother to make changes in their show rooms for the last 6 months. Everything become dirty, and is the same old thing.
My latest trip to ikea was this month 08/2007 - after paying for my stuffs - I was told to pay .05c per plastic bag to put my stuff in!!! THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING THAT EVER HAPPEN. Even the 99c stores provides baggings for their store customers.
IKEA HAS BECOME A DISAPOINTMENT. Small stuffs, big prizes, cheap quality.
2me2, I for one fell more in love with IKEA when it started charging for bags. How can you be disappointed by conservation and non-wastefulness?
