Simple Storage. Check out the ingenious Wandsinn wall-mounted drawer designed by Patrick Frey and Markus Boge. A L-shaped steel plate serves as the top of the drawer and the mounting surface while the birch plywood drawer hangs from the steel plate on two inner grooves...

This is an excellent idea for a small space as it gets the furniture up off the floor. This could easily be used as a tiny landing strip, an end table or nightstand. Multiples would also work as a series of floating shelves/drawers.
Wandsinn comes in two sizes and four drawer colors: Red, Black, White and Natural. Available in Europe from Manufactum — does anyone know of a U.S. distributor? Via SwissMiss.

It's clever and cool, but $100? Not for me... This is an idea that Ikea SO has to rip off...
Brilliant idea. I want one (well, two to be exact). I have had a horrible time finding nightstands narrower than 19" with a drawer.
Love this. Easy to vacuum under.
K - that's exactly what I was thinking when I posted this!
I love this...I love the idea of floating bedside tables...
Reminds me of one of my inspiration pics for the bedroom...

I love how the drawer itself creates the nice little edge around the top of the surface when it is closed. How lovely.
shouldn't be difficult to build with stuff from your hardware store ....
I'd just be a bit worried about the walls in my apartment ... I once bought a floating shelf which kept breaking away from the wall....
definitely space-saving and great for vacuuming under it, as K and aaron agree.
but it's true, it might be a doable DIY. although the red lacquer-esque finish is to die for.
if you find a cheaper one PLEASE post it. this is perfect
Is it me? It seems to cry out for a floating Umbra bookshelf!
CB2 has a similar shelf.
Smacks self on the forehead.
i love these! i was looking at the CB2 website but didnt see anything...can you tell me where you saw a similiar drawer?
This design is a wonderful nightstand alternative for those of us with curious toddlers running around the house (for whom everything below the 4' level is fair game)!
@Barbara Thimm: These things really have to be secured directly to the studs inside the wall, else they will do just that. anything heavier than a picture frame needs to hang on studs.
lemonnyc...i thought i saw it in the cb2 catalog....i'll look tonight. it may have been west elm instead. it wasn't colored, just wood, but easily paintable.
I'm not sure it would be good with toddlers about. Mine would pull on it and open it until she got it to fall on her. Love it though.
Although not drawers, my mother built nightstands that are of a similar concept/look. She used leftover plywood to make them.

MDF, rather.
Lori, did your mom paint the MDF or afflix laminate to it? It looks great. Very shiny. :)
She painted the MDF.
Anybody knows where I could find this one to buy? I have really small bedrooms, can't fit regular nightstands, this would work great! Thanks! Laura
