Name: Teu
Location: Seattle
Type: 2-bedroom, owned
Why I use color:
I infused my home with color to survive rainy Seattle. I love rich colors - they warm up my life.

2 Good color tips:
1. You'll know when you find the right color when 'estomago faz cocegas.' This is roughly translated as 'when you feel that tickle in your stomach.'
2. Don't save money on cheap paint - it's not worth it!

Favorite type and brand of paint:
I just can't remember what brand we used!

Shaw's Original Fir...
What vibrant, happy colors - my fave's the somewhat muted curtain next to the purse hangy-thingy. And your dining room's a hoot! I wouldn't be able to sit in there and be in a bad mood.
I'm giving you an "instant finalist" vote simply because your house is so flipping immaculate even with two small kiddos romping around! Hah!
I really like your kitchen island. Such a simple concept.
That's the first time I've seen those stools used where it really looks great.
The paisley curtains are great. Love the overall feel of your home.
Very, very nice. I like the colors and furnishings, especially the coat tree.
Very nice! And happy.
hello! when can I move in?
This is wonderful—not just beautiful, but unique. It doesn't look as though everything was acquired from the same few shops. The hot pink upholstery on the dining room chairs has to be my favorite element.
Definitely warm and cheery for Seattle. I would hang the picture in the dining area, the room looks really bottom heavy.
love it
Kids add color wherever they are!
An insta finalist for two cute toddlers! Oh, the house is great too!
Holy shit, this is killer!
If you ever feel like updating your dining chair/dining table, it might be fun to paint them white. Just an idea.
Where is the light blue vase from? Dear God, it's delicious.
beautiful, cheerful and interesting (and i like seeing children for a change instead of pets)
I wouldn't be able to sit in your dining room and not stare at the two people gettin' it on. Ha ha. Just kidding. Love it.
Love it, love it, love it!
This house is just so bright and tasteful. The colors sure make anyone in a good mood. This is so far my favorite house. Love it!:-)
this is beautiful...I live in Seattle too!
YUUUUM!!!!
This is a happy place.
That is one of the coolest little kitchens I have seen. Did you have a local cabinet maker build it for you? I would put doors on the cabinets above the fridge but now I'm just nit-picking.
Very nice!
This just makes me smile. Love it.
I just finished my own kitchen reno, and i'm totally digging your kitchen. It looks like freestanding/modular kitchen. Please tell us about your kitchen, including where you purchased your cabinets, etc.
Thanks!
David
I'd love to know more about the coat rack that looks like sticks
I love it!
Thanks so much for the feast for the eyes!
Beautiful!
This place is absolutely fantastic!
what about the bedrooms?
I love this kitchen! All your yellows/mustards are making me want to incorporate the hue into my own place. Great use of space!
Hands down favorite. Love it.
So fun and bright!!! It lookis like it'd be hard to have a bad day in this house. I especially love that shade of yellow.
What color is that dining room wall? If I tip my screen one way, it looks like the orange walls I have and if I tip it another way, it looks yellow.
Beautiful. Simple. Cheery. Love it.
I want to lick my monitor, this space is so effing delicious.
Insta-finalist.
Colors are so cheery, and am really digging the dining room furniture. Love the substantial modern table paired with the delicate traditional chairs.
This is great! So inspiring.
beautiful. elegant. i'm jealous of your use of color and how well everything works together. i love the pink with yellow combination in the dining area, the coat rack, the paisley curtain and the clock above the microwave. where did you get the clock!? i think it would be perfect in my home. please let us know where you got these great pieces and where your color inspiration comes from. thanks.
Thank you everybody for all the sweet comments. They are so rewarding to read as we built the house and much of the furniture ourselves. To answer some questions:
- The blue vase was a lucky find at Goodwill
- A friend of ours (local cabinet maker) made the cabinets. We are planning to put doors on the all the kitchen cabinets when time and budget allow.
- I got the coat rack at Bamboo Hardwoods in Seattle - a great store does all things bamboo
- The dining room wall is gold-yellow. I'll try to find the paint swatch!
- The clock was a gift from a friend. But I believe it's the Ball Clock by George Nelson. It's available many places, including here: http://hivemodern.com/products/?view=sub_product&sid=98&cid=81&cid2=209
Thank you again for all your wonderful comments!
Um, can I move in?
This is a lovely home. great colors and furniture and kitchen cabinets and floors, etc.
I have to ask, however, why the sofa is right there facing the kitchen? It looks like the sofa and dining room table should be switched.
Once again though, lovely home.
Love your house. I've been looking for inspiration and this is really great for beating back the Seattle blues. These colors look they're possibly from Yolo. Could you give me the name of the cabinetmaker that you used. Thanks.
Excellent occasional child placement.
This place seems to radiate sunshine--you have definitely defeated the rain.
Love this! I smiled at the first photo, and kept on smiling...
Wow! I like your place a lot!!! Especially your kitchen/living. It is so lively and colorful :)
I am quite envious of your spacious kitchen! I bet the kids have a blast playing in your house.
The photo of the pretty curtains and coat rack has become the palette for my living room. Beautiful space. Congrats ;)
Love your color palette!
Beautiful colors and textiles. The patterns and colors are inspiring.
Where is your dining table from? I love it because it's long and big yet slender and narrow. It's perfect.
I realize this was listed in 2007, but can you tell me where you got your coat rack? I've been dreaming of one like that...
