We’ve been obsessed with Nick Olsen ever since first seeing his former apartment on the cover of Domino Magazine, lurking his Myspace and basically forcing him into a friendship with us.

The Year: 2006 - A moment in time when our beloved Domino Magazine was still in print and people actually used Myspace.
Guerrin: (Bursting through the door, flailing a magazine) Oh my GOD, Mat you’ve GOT to see this guy’s apartment on the cover of Domino.
Mat: Uh, Guerrin, you are one Cosmo Kramer entrance away from losing your spare key privileges. Now what snake skin tray table has got you all worked up this time? Woah, Nick Olsen! This this place is a green dream! Assistant to Miles Redd...Nick Olsen...Nick Olsen...
Guerrin: I wonder if he’s on Myspace. (Intensely typing away) Now just a few clicks of the ole’ mouse and...bingo! Found him. Message him, message him, just do it.
Mat: Wha? Me? Waddoo I say?
Guerrin: Just ask him for drinks, we must know him.

Turns out, Nick’s sharp-witted design sensibility translates directly into his personality and we’ve been lucky enough to share more than a few drinks with him since. When catching up with this design maverick last week, he told us New York Social Diary was going to be featuring his new Chinatown digs - and we couldn't wait to get an in-depth virtual tour of his eclectic and inventive apartment. You’ve seen Nick’s new place in the pages of Lonny, and we are excited to share this additional coverage of what he lovingly refers to as his "little opium den.”

Nomade Express Slee...
wow!!! I love your living room, and also that painted floor. If I could I would have THAT floor instead of this white carpet, white walls, white ceiling apartment, that takes lots of $$$ to keep floor clean...sincerely mary
Wow, that is a seriously***RED*** kitchen. Like REALLY REALLY RED.
Isn't that bad feng shui? just kidding!
Cool place, very inventive use of...well, stuff. LOL
I bet it looks amazing at night.
A "little opium den" ... in Chinatown? Um, okaayyyy. But I suppose political correctness runs counter to depictions of fabulousness. I'm not a fan of such clashing decor, but I admire the ability to pull it off this way, or at least the gumption to try.
SERIOUS CRUSH on anything Nick Olsen.... No matter what he does, everything always comes together spectacularly. The man is so talented & has great ideas. I still have my Domino magazine where they did a spread on his apartment at the time, and use it as reference material whenever I want to do something new.
