Yes, we promised to show off our "after" shots today, but for the sake of following our own suggestion to photograph your home in natural daylight (and seeing as how we've been night-owls as of late), we'll be back with part 2 later this week. In the meantime, a reader asked what we did with the kitchen paneling so we thought we'd refresh your memories...

after, still in progress
We're true believers in the power of paint....big change, eh? Changing out the floors is in our long-term plans, but we think we might try to hit the grout with a couple coats of grout coat in the meantime. And yes, that door will get painted at some point....

Howard Butcher Bloc...
Make a whole lot of difference! Great job!
what white did you use for paint?
love all the greenery
so glad you added that you were doing the door too, eventually.
well done, lots of work...
Haven't we seen this before and after - before.
Ack- the door makes me hurt!
But I LOVE the painted paneling. My mom did this in the early 80's and people thought she had lost her mind... but I think it brightens things up so much!
Amazing how much more open it looks with the shelves and swinging saloon doors gone. Good job!
cherrybomb: benjamin moore brand, can't remember the exact name...i'll look around to see if i can find it
peachpie: yes, you did (good eye)! i received a few questions regarding the kitchen paneling from readers who missed this post the first time around and thought it might be helpful to re-post.
wow...huge improvement...it looks wonderful
I like this, Shayna -- but then again, you haven't showcased anything I didn't like!
good job! how about the door?
looks great - even the floor is transformed! congrats.
I didn't recognize the space! BEAUTIFUL! The new paint even refreshes that old tile, very nice job! :)
One of my favorite kitchen flooring options is black-and-white squares. It would look great in your space, and it's cheap.
well done! congratulations :-D
terrific
go crazy with the door color...
Oh I do hope that door goes a hot color of Kitchenaid mixer red. =D
paint the door white with greeny greyish trim, if the tile is cream, i would go to home depot and get those big square laminate tiles, they come in many interesting colors and they stick to the floor. put those down it doesnt take long, and it would have a great impact on the space. the white looks great.
it looks like an entirely different room! inspiring.
ahw. way to play it boring and safe. sure wood paneling has an overbearing character and is hard to deal with, but painting it white totally neutered this room.
and you took out the only charming and wonderful detail about the room - those saloon doors!
hope you post an after-after pic of everything fully done
formosagirl: i definitely will! as the weather gets colder we'll be moving our projects back inside and picking up where we left off...
