Steven Gambrel is founder of the New York design firm, S. R. Gambrel. He’s designed everything from posh duplexes to country houses that would make Martha Stewart jealous. And since it’s Bedroom Month here on Apartment Therapy, let’s take a look at some swanky Gambrel bed chambers.
Steven says his passion is for "timeless, comfortable houses that improve with age." He likes to mix modern with traditional, is not afraid to play with colors and textures, and he’ll often design his own sofas, chairs, and rugs.

ooh i like the 5th one. those maps look like peeling wallpaper. it feels crumbly and restful.
I love the 3rd one and I'm not even a pink person!
I love the wall art in the second one. Where is it from??
I love the built in bunkbeds with the shelves! I wonder if the drawers underneath are trundles or storage.
I love the two rooms with the beds built into the room. Its such a unique feature, and seems very Scandinavian to me for some reason. I especially like the sixth one, although Im usually not much of a lavender type girl.
the 9th room with that huge window and that beautiful sofa is a-m-a-z-i-n-g
I love these rooms - but the one I want to live in is the first one...
...and I want the 9th one to be my Living Room (Love that Sofa!)
That lilac alcove bedroom is beautiful. The mix of glossy abstract prints in the 2nd photo is very nice too, a great mix of pastels with stronger colors.
Anyone know where I can get more info on the metal chairs in pic 5?
Wow. Some of these are very nice--I love the built in beds. And there are many things in picture 1 that I'd love to sneak in and steal for my own room.
But #3 is hideous. Looks like a child threw giant oozing spit balls at the wall. Shudder.
LOVE the red white and blue one.:)
I rather like the art in #3, but I was seeing it as a field of flowers, not snotballs.
Uhhhhhhhh. #3 looks a little spermy to me...which may or may not be appropriate for a bedroom.
Not really a fan of any of these... they range from Marriott-esque (#7) to horribly tacky (#4).
Nice.
