We'd never actually been to Lowe's until this weekend. We've noticed Danny Seo blog a couple of things from the big box store that we thought were pretty darn cool, so when we were passing one, we decided to drop in...
We really liked the steel outdoor wall fixture shown above the jump ($18.98). (Danny blogged it here.)

This Fisher & Paykel dishwasher with two drawers ($1399).
A KitchenAid undercounter refrigerator ($1098).
Contact paper, anyone? ($4.98)
We blogged these Sylvania Dot-It Lights here (no price tag).
Check out this funky robot-like Perfect Flame grill ($239).

However, we were very disappointed we couldn't find this great fan Danny blogged.

I have those galvanized milk barn lights on my house. They were cheap and fit the bill nicely.

We bought the steel outdoor light fixture for our basement entrance. It's so cool I want to find a pendant-style light in the same finish to use in my kitchen.
Having just bought a new home, and trying to spruce it up without spending a fortune, I've been spending a lot of time at the big home stores.
I've got to say that Lowes wins hands down in comparison to Home Depot, especially when it comes to customer service. After too many awful experiences to describe succintly, I'll never be stepping into a Home Depot again where Lowes will aways have my business.

Lowes wins hands down compared to Home Depot in my opinion, especially when it comes to customer service. After too many awful experiences to describe succintly, I will not be setting foot in Home Depot again and Lowes will always have my business.
Sorry about the double post. Haven't had my coffee yet.
On the other hand, we've had horrible customer service at Lowes. We do like their choices better than HD many times, but I think service can vary from store to store.
I also got those galvanized outdoor lights, unfortunately, they only carry the smaller ones, and I wanted 1 of the larger ones, which seem to have been dropped.
Special orders are still a huge pain at both stores, and trying to follow up on a missing rebate check from Lowe's was such a pain, I gave up. I have certainly found that prices at Lowe's are a bit higher, and both are more expensive for appliances than a local appliance store, which was a surprise.
Spend lots of time in both HD and Lowes, Lowes was late on the delivery of my new fridge which I needed in time for a wedding cake, setting me up for a series of aggravations two months ago. When they did come, they got their truck stuck, dropped the fridge and scuffed it. The manager was called out to assess and he drastically reduced the fridge and I am STILL trying to recoup the discount. I like my Samsung but am growing more irked daily with Lowes. I guess they hope I give up like theorra55.
Here's a place for that sort of lamp, in pendant form: http://barnlightelectric.com/index.php/Barn-Lights-Pendants/View-all-products.html
I was always a Home Depot girl back when I lived in Texas- when I moved my town had a Lowes- now I will never go back to HD! Lowes stores are cleaner, filled with items I actually want to purchase, and (at least in my store) the employees are nicer and more than willing to help. Bonus- their clearance sales are amazing!
hey... kristinaXI... can you tell me what color gray you have in your apartment? I came across the post, and love the color... but didn't think you would be checking that post again!
Thanks a bunch!!
The Loewe's in Philadelphia is the best. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. At Home Depot, it may take you walking down several aisles until you find a sales associate to assist you, and even then, there is no guarantee that they will be able to help you..most of them appear to know next to nothing on the products they are selling and always have to ask someone else in management.
That robot-like grill looks wicked!
