We've been talking about color a great deal, but for the most part, it has been focused indoors instead of out. I've always admired the guts or courage that people have when it comes to bold colors on the outside of their home. Here are 10 great examples of how to go big or go home. Literally.
Here are a few colorful home finds from good old Flickr. Check out more about each photos from the links below.

There's a whole lotta happy in these photos! :)
I wish this was more acceptable and prevalent in my area. If I were to do this, my house would stick out like a sore thumb...I love seeing pictures of little island towns and South American countries that use this style. Really cool!
My house is hot pink (a bit more blue than the pink of the house in pic #9) with tangerine and dark green trim (was supposed to be more olive, came out more evergreen). I figure, why not?
This reminds of The Flaming Lips' art space in OKC: http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lrn7z4ZyhL1qlwxmxo1_500.jpg
In my desire to include Newfoundland (how could you miss Newfoundland??? :-) I came upon this related blog post. Lots of other neat shots: http://morewaystowastetime.blogspot.com/2007/07/color-obsession-painted-houses.html
I see lots of colorful home in Puerto Rico. :)
Oh don't these houses just make you feel happy! I love them all. The house right next to us is 'raspberry milkshake pink'. It's an old cottage right on the beach and it's Listed - which over here in England means it's a historic building and there are certain things you can and can't do to it - and it's part of its Listing that it has to be painted pink! http://cecilymae.com/2011/10/10/buoys-about-the-bay/dscf9330/
Ooh, that first house is my dream home.
a link to the pink cottage - take a peak...

Wow!
i love these pics!! love the color and warmth they bring. and yet, I always hear from people how these crazy colored homes bring down the value of nearby beige-y similar looking homes on the block...i dont get it.
Why yes I am. The past 18+ months I have been removing stucco and asbestos siding to refinish and paint my wood sided 1913 craftsman home. The siding is a bright classic yellow, with a light green major trim, forest green minor trim and burgandy window sashes, door and porch. Was tempted to go with the standard craftsman green and brown combo with red door that everyone else does on their craftsmans, but the homes original color was infact yellow with light green trim, figured i'd keep it the same and avoid being like everyone else.
I guess for my own place, I'd prefer something more classic and subdued to live with a long time. These are like party dresses for houses, too much (in my opinion) for every-day wear.
However, here's a link to the Hackley-Hume houses in my old home town of Muskegon, MI. http://www.muskegonmuseum.org/hackley_hume.html
I lived in town when they started restoration and discovered that, rather than the white paint they had sported for as long as anybody could remember, there were originally 13 exterior paint colors used! (A common phenomenon during the Victorian period, I have heard.) Perhaps not NEON colors, though!!
Love these! Growing up I wanted a purple house and my parent's used to mock me. At 30, I still want a purple house.
They also remind me on of my favorite houses near where I live: http://people.csail.mit.edu/psz/nhnac/LincolnStreet/102_0201.JPG
Dear Apartment Therapy.
I love it when you show me crazy stuff that not everyone would do, which is sort of what makes it so cool.
Thank you.
The first house in Rogers Park is soo cool. I am from Rogers Park and there is this home and other that have the same cool.
Hey! What about these? http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/dc/look/look-painted-ladies-row-houses-baltimore--075785
RP represent! I used to walk by that house all the time, before I moved out of the 'hood. (sniff, sniff) There's also the leopard print house on Estes. God, I love that neighborhood.
How could you miss St. John's, Newfoundland?
