I am a firm believer in "too much of a good thing." Despite being a dedicated modernist through and through, you can only dig through so many mid-century designs before it starts to feel a little repetitive and over-saturated. In a world of sharp edges and sometimes cookie-cutter design, it's nice to find some respite: the relaxed, grounded look of bohemian style.

There's no one set guide for going bohemian, it's a highly interpretive style with a lot of room for personal customization. Globally-influenced with a focus on different patterns and textures, the boho lifestyle is all about celebrating the artistic and peaceful side of life. And no, not only hippies need apply.

I like to think of bohemian style as putting a focus on things that make you happy: colorful textiles, plush bedding, lush hanging plants and sparkling lanterns all work together to create an eclectic and surprisingly cohesive look in your home. And while the traditional bohemian style is all-out bold and colorful, different interpretations like "modern bohemian" and "mid-century bohemian" offer endless possibilities to make the space your own.

Feeling at peace with your decision to try this style out? Let's start with the small stuff: decor accents like planters and throw pillows offer a little sneak peek into the world of the perpetually chill.
