10 Furniture Designers to Watch in 2013

Furniture designers are like my rock stars. I am in awe of anyone who can conceptualize a piece of furniture (let alone an entire collection!) and then beautifully execute it. These are ten designers that have my eye right now, international rock star status pending.

TOP ROW:
  • Andrea Lewin Wendel — Andrea's work mixes natural elements with industrial and whimsical touches.
  • Brandon Morrison — We've been watching Brandon's work since 2011, when he was still showing his pieces in his home. Two years later, Brandon has a beautiful website, Whyrhymer, and a showroom in LA.
  • Mark Jupiter — Mark's designs use reclaimed woods and industrial elements. Right on trend for an organic modern look.
  • Zachary A — We first came across Zachary's work at the Architectural Digest Home Show this year. His clever furniture appears to be solid concrete but, as you can see in the photo above, is actually lightweight.
  • Andrew Moe — Andrew's designs rely on clean lines and solid workmanship, two things that will never go out of style.

BOTTOM ROW:
  • Michael Robbins — Being raised in rural upstate New York definitely had an influence on Michael's designs. They're at once rustic and modern — a gorgeous combination.
  • Geoffrey Keating — After ditching a career path that would have lead him into teaching, Geoffrey chose to follow his wandering hands into woodworking. Geoffrey describes his designs as contemporary antique.
  • Taylor Donsker — After studying architecture at USC, Taylor started making furniture in his parent's garage and now, just a couple of years later, has graduated to a large workshop in Santa Monica.
  • Reeve Schley — Reeve designs furniture that is intended to grow and evolve along with you. It's fitting, then, that he designs under the name Seed Furniture.
  • Cameron Helvey — Cameron is another young designer to keep an eye on. His first collection, which he's funding through Kickstarter, shows a lot of promise.
