Shaw's Original Fir...
About the salvaged wood: I have two, one made of driftwood, and one of old battered fencing, painted alternately grey and blue. The driftwood one is sound, preserved by the salt, but I noticed dust under the fencing one, had to take it down - insects.
Another argument for driftwood! (you can find examples by Googling)
I made a headboard using books, and there is no way it cost less than $50! At Goodwill the books were $2-3 each, and I used about 20 books, plus the wood backing, plus mounting hardware. I really love the headboard, but it was not as cheap as you might think.
I am living in a rented beautiful house in a wooded area that is gorgeous, but my bedroom wall is brown wood paneling. Soooo...I decided to up it a bit and nailed a beautiful yellow and orange toned textile that I purchased a few years ago. It looks pretty good. Cost: less than $10 bucks! That is my new "headboard."
Seriously? $2-3/ book? my library always has a free section with books they are removing from the collection and our Goodwill sells books for $0.25 a pop
Free books from the library and books for a quarter at Goodwill? That's insane! My library has a bookstore where books are quite cheap: anywhere from $.25 to $5. Books at Goodwill? The very cheapest are .99. Most nice-looking modern fiction is 4.99. I've seen upwards of $14.99. I miss cheap books!
How do you mount these to the wall?
As for #3 with the hankies, where would one even find the 60 inch canvas to mount them onto for less than $50? Help!
Am I the only person that looks at the pallet wood one and thinks "one night with that and I'd have a hand full of splinters"....or at the framed photos one and thinks of how long it would take to knock one of those off the wall turning in my sleep.
Right there with you, Jazmine. And those frames would be hard to come by for under $50.
