Who doesn't love a good sale? I found a new excuse for procrastinating by spending my lunch hour shopping online. Private sale websites seem to be the latest trend in online shopping. I was already familiar with Gilt Groupe, but stumbled upon a few more sites while holiday shopping. Even Overstock.com joined the category of members only sites with their new website, Eziba. See a full list of private sale sites below the jump.
- Gilt Groupe: This is my favorite private sale website. They had a booth at last summer's Dwell on Design event and were attracting quite a crowd. They have a few items in their current sale that I am eyeing for Christmas presents.
- One Kings Lane: Their new sales events begin daily at 8am PST and last 72 hours. They offer designer decor, home essentials, entertaining products, and travel needs. Last month they were featured in InStyle Magazine as the Best of the Web.
- Decor Insider: Decor Insider opened April 1, 2010 and offers "to-the-trade" home furnishings at reduced prices.
- Rue La La: Rue La La is an invitation-only site that features private sale boutiques that are open for a set amount of time.
- Eziba: Eziba is Overstock.com's private sale site. Their sales start at 11am EDT and they currently offer free shipping up until December 25th.
- Achica: Achica is a luxury lifestyle store, which has savings of up to 70% on luxury home and lifestyle brands.
- ideeli: ideeli is a members only shopping community that features designer brands at up to 80% off in the areas of fashion, home, and beauty. The membership includes $25 shopping credits for each friend who buys.
- HauteLook: HauteLook has 48 hour sale events with discounts of 50-75% off the world's top fashion, accessories, beauty, kids, and home brands.
- 2M Collective: 2M Collective offers unique discounts and exclusive offerings on modern furniture, lighting, and accessories.
- the Foundary: the Foundary strives to bring a higher quality of life within reach. Their site features home essentials at up to 70% off retail.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Does anyone know where the chair in the top right photo (with dog) is from?
Add DesignStory.com to the list. I've never bought anything from these sites but relatives have bought from Rue La La and the merchandise takes a while to arrive and is not eligible for returns.
Had issues with ideeli. Items were not shipped as promised and delayed an extra month without notification.
Decor Insider is the worst:
Extremely limited selection, and the same stuff week after week after week - I finally quit looking at them.
The Foundary really doesnt sell anything that isn't already on their public site Hayneedle.
Gilt and One Kings Lane are my go-to membership shopping sites - The great thing about Gilt is that they also have deals for travel and apparel - and starting tomorrow, members will be able to try for one of 3 2011 VW Jetta for $10,000 off MSRP!
Meanwhile, One Kings Lane has their Saturday "Tastemaker" sales where one can pick up interesting vintage objects and home furnishings - sometimes at great prices!
I like RueLaLa precisely because you CAN return the merchandise, less the cost of shipping. The only non-returnables are obvious items like underwear, swimwear and food and wine.
Worm whole! I should be working and now look at me shopping!
Definitely check out JossandMain.com. It's very new so not too many people know about it yet. They have some awesome home accessories and switch it up between modern, traditional and eclectic.
I have had luck with both HauteLook and Gilt - the shipping is slow but the products were both high quality and good deals.
The thing I don't like about membership sites is the fact that now that they have my email address, I'm receiving emails from them on a daily basis.
I'm surprised nobody mention www.beyondtherack.com. I have ordered a lot from here as well as from Hautelook, Rue La La and Ideeli.
One Kings Lane is awful. I had to force them last year to take back a whole boat load of stuff I bought within a 2 week period, household items of all kinds, serverware, linens, trays, ceramics, art work. Every bit of it was cheap crap from overseas that I could have found at Cost Plus for much much less. Just awful. But after a LOT of emailing one of the founders, complaining and continuously bugging them, they gave in and I returned all of it. Not worth even looking there.
