The demise of so many of our favorite magazines last year made us feel significantly less guilty about our gigantic periodical collection even though it has a tendency to overflow our shelves. We constantly reference past issues of our favorites that have passed away and treasure the arrival of the few that are still alive.
Here are some tips and solutions for keeping and storing your magazine stockpile.

Nomade Express Slee...
I used to try to save my magazines, but then I realized that I hardly ever actually got the chance to go back and read them, and it was just not worth it in terms of space. I keep a very small selection of magazines that are either current issues or such good issues that I actually will go back to them. Or I will clip an article or photo here and there if I love it. But to me, it is not worth it to have piles of magazines around the house.
I love magazines. They're my crazy, decadent indulgence, and I wish I could save them ALL. I could stare at photos of beautiful rooms for hours. But the reality is, the rooms I love the most don't have piles of magazines stacked all over the place. So I try to limit my collections. With the exception of my old Dominos (yes, those I'm keeping), I try to clip and toss. But if I start to lose control of the piles, and I don't feel like spending the time to go through them, I happily toss. I'd rather have a beautiful home than thousands of unruly inspiration photos getting in the way. How ironic would that be?
Just thought I'd point out that if you love your old magazines enough to keep them, do not store them directly next to a window like in the first photo! Light is a major factor in paper degradation.
I love, save, and refer back to my shelter magazines, all neatly stored in file boxes! Glad others love them too. Makes me feel somewhat less like I'm slowly becoming a hoarder...
I like 1 as a way to hide magazines in an unused space (as long as you can reach them). Those in 10 are great for magazine display for use around the house.
I've gotta show my mom these posts; she doesn't believe that other people actually have huge collections of magazines! She thinks there's something wrong with me that I used to have a huge collection. After moving them a few times, I've spent time narrowing the collection over the years. I finally bought a back up hard drive, and now I get rid of most magazines, scanning any pics/articles I want to the drive first. Much lighter and easier to find stuff. I still keep a few, like the DIY mags.
the best thing to do with old magazines is throw them out faster
I like the idea of keeping them in a sitting room instead of coffee table books. Perhaps I'll try a version of the first picture.
I hate to throw magazines away, esp. fashion or decor magazines. I dont subscribe to any but I do hold on to the issues that I have been tempted into buying.
I treasure my ever-growing yellow row of golden yellow national geographic magazines. the rest hang around for a while before finding their way into the recylce bin. i like the idea of scanning pages you want to save.
I only order specialty mags (Jewelry design) and keep them just stacked in my bookcase. Can't say I'd want to keep any in the bathroom! Eeww!
