Outside of watching football players on the sidelines partake in the cool chill that a misting fan gives off, we were pretty new to the idea until this recent post over at The Kitchn mentioned how enjoyable they can be. Since then, we've been doing a bit of research and came up with several we think could be worth your time.
Pictured Above, Left To Right
• Bronze Windchill Misting Fan: Available from Frontgate for $129, this unit attaches to a regular garden hose and has four sprayers to keep things cool.
• Keeping Cool 6: Available at Costco for $19.99, this portable unit is a hose that can sit along the edge of an umbrella to cool your immediate dining area.
• Holmes Outdoor Misting Fan: this fan is currently on sale at Kohls for $64 from $159 and is a great size for it's price. Might be worth heading to the suburbs for!
• 30" Commercial Misting Fan: for $699 from Northern Tool. Although this unit is a little pricier, this is one item that you get what you pay for.
• Patio Misting System: for $109.95 from Cool-Off. This kit can attach to your deck, patio or even front porch overhangs, wherever you need a little cool, it's there and with low pressure to save you $$ on your water bill.

i LOVE it!!!
my backyard is oriented precisely east-west and gets the sun beating down on it from about 10:30 am until after 6:00 pm. even under my large market umbrella it gets uncomfortably hot. i am still working on placing this properly on my tiny patio and wish i had space for one with a fan to direct the mist where i'd like it to go, rather than switching direction with every wind gust, but i'll take it.
They used these at a wedding I was at in India last year - quite surprising when you're formally dressed, but lovely. Just make sure they rotate!
