I have big rocks from the beach as doorstops in all my rooms, branches in a large vase on the floor, and a natural wood bowl filled with shells and beach stones. I only break out the bowl with the beach stones and shells once the warm weather hits, though.

Funnily, I like beachy stuff in the winter, but then, in Houston it's got to be 90 degrees at 8 in the morning, and who wants to walk in the sun then (to say nothing of barefoot in the sand)?

That is, 90 degrees at 8a. this time of year.

I am in need of a door stop for our bedroom door, but a stone would look funny on wall to wall carpet, wouldn't it?

I love decorating with dried flowers. The feeling of nature is still there, unlike when it's plastic counterpart is used, plus they'll never wilt on you... they already have.

The weathered grey of the log rounds goes so amazingly with the blue in that room! I would have never thought of that.

I have an ostrich's egg from the local kiddie zoo. People love to hold it- though blown it is surprisingly heavy and has an interesting surface. It rests on a wooden candlestick on the coffee table.

i found a big sawed off tree stump in a nearby park, but my husband was out of town and i had no way of moving it (it was really, really heavy). i had dreams of treating it and making it into an accent table for the house...of course, when he got back to town, it was gone.
