Oh, Internet, you make faraway things seem close at hand, even if it's only an illusion. Thanks to you, we can virtually visit a new West End cocktail bar, catch up on the latest furniture design trends at the London Design Festival, and shop for European imports without crossing the pond.

10 Online UK Art & Design Shops

  1. Bodie & Fou
Run by two sisters in London, this online shop has a line of contemporary art prints and posters, as well as a good selection of children's art. Shown above is their Quintessentially Print, £45.
  2. The Lollipop Shoppe
In addition to their web shop, they have brick-and-mortar stores in London and Brighton. They carry classic modern furniture and graphic artwork, like the Typetables Poster shown above, £19.
  3. Donna Wilson
Her poufs, rugs, and pillows have appeared several times on Apartment Therapy — seems like we just can't get enough of her distinctly patterned, colorful designs. This Beardy Man Plate is another one, available through her web shop for £20.
  4. New Blood Art
Based in London, this online gallery focuses on recent UK grads and emerging artists. Prices for prints and original pieces range from £50 to £5,000. This is Vauxhall Cross by Emma Williams, an original painting that sells for £390.
  5. Hidden Art Shop
This is a non-profit group that runs an online store whose purpose is to connect emerging UK designers with a broad retail market, both locally and internationally. Shown above is Candelabra Two by Nick Fraser, £35.
  6. The Future Mapping Company
This London store and web shop offers what they describe as an "alternative and thought-provoking vision of our planet, using an equal-area projection to represent countries in their correct proportional size (something which a lot of maps don't do)." Shown above is the Future Map in Emerald, Lime, and Metallic Khaki, £60. They also sell maps of the UK and London.
  7. Darkroom
This is a brand new concept shop in London's Bloomsbury neighborhood. Founded by graphic designer Rhonda Drakeford and textile designer Lulu Roper-Caldbeck, the shop carries a mix of furniture, fashion, accessories, and artwork. Shown above is the Geometric Print by David David, £250.
  8. Papa Stour
Founded by Scottish designer and stylist Rosie Brown, this shop specializes in new work by contemporary Scottish craftspeople and artists. Shown above is the Wee Slikit Poster by Allistair, £42.
  9. Surface View
Britain-based Surface View sells bespoke prints and wall murals, and their customizable image database ranges from classic paintings in the collection of the Victoria & Albert museum to 20th century photographs from the Getty Images collection. Shown above is a wall mural from the V&A Classics Collection (priced by size/style).
  10. North Rock Gallery
This high-design shop is located in Lerwick, a small town in the Scottish Shetland Isles. Their e-commerce site includes a number of prints, artwork, and accessories by European designers, including this Familjen Tray (£15) by Scandinavian Designer Sandra Isaksson for ISAK.
