I am a little obsessed with candles right now and the warm glow that comes with them. I made the thyme candle holders for my Thanksgiving table, and I recently made a new batch with fresh juniper berries and placed them all over my apartment. If you are interested in making some of your own, below are pictures and tutorials for 10 candles that would look great on a dining table or placed next to your couch for a cozy night in.

OK, sorry for being gloomy. But not everyone is focused on the 'holidays'. For many people, it is a lonely and depressing time. Just a thought....
@Amaranta: I've found that two of the better cures for holiday blues are to go volunteer somewhere and/or to RSVP for big group events on social activity sites. There've been a lot of holidays when I haven't had plans or been with family, but I've discovered over the years that the same is true of a lot of people. The trick is to either be busy doing something fun with other people -- even complete strangers -- or volunteering to decorate, serve food, clean up, or visit an older person, or maybe give some kind of relief or help to people who are working on a holiday ... OR (here's a third idea) using the "big day" itself for long-distance travel to somewhere else, maybe some place not in the throes of the holiday. ... The main trick is to get out of the apartment/house, get into some other surroundings (ranging from nature to a movie), and preferably be with some upbeat people for at least part of the time --
