Just so we're clear, LEGOs are by no means collecting dust at our house. My whole family, the wife and I included, are avid brick builders. But this nifty LEGO key holder got me thinking about all the other little bits of sentimental toy flotsam lying around the house. Stuff that might have a new purpose after a coat of paint and bit of epoxy. Here's a roundup of some favorites.
1. LEGO Key Holder
2. Wooden Block Hallway Hooks
3. Dinosaur Planter
4. Magnetic Animal Photo Holder
5. Vintage Truck Lights
6. Animal Head Coat Rack
7. Plastic Animal Bookends
8. Slinky Birdfeeder
9. Action Figure Flower Stand
10. Faux Gold Dino Pendant

All but one are very clever and very cute. Love the truck lights. The flower stand action figure without the head just creeps me out.
Aw, that was the one that made me giggle. I did not care for the firetruck light fixture mess, mostly because it reminds me of the old firetruck toys my husband has collecting dust in the attic.
My favorite is the slinky bird feeder and the lego key holder! :)
My BF would NOT like it if I painted his toys blue and put plants in them... hahahahaha this is great!
These are great. But who ever outgrows a slinky?!
If you like this, there are 20+ more ideas here (published 4/29):

These are awesome! I love the frire truck lights and the lego key holder. so cute! also the animal head coat rack. These are such cute ideas!
I used to have Lego plant stands.
Hilarious! (And kind of genius!)
our dog is always stealing one of the plastic toys and eating the leg. this is a great idea to use them instead of just tossing them. i still hate when our dog does that.
Love the LEGO one! But, and I hate to burst everyone's bubble, I don't think that's really a Slinky birdfeeder, I think it's just your standard peanut feeder.
Slinky. It's fun for a girl and a boy.
And a bird.
Awesome ways to recycle the toys. This has definitely inspired me. My only issue is you have to have an eclectic or funky design style to use most toys. It would be difficult to use toys in most other design styles. Don't you think?
My son, the Lego crazy 12 y.o. is going to love these ideas. Thank you. Debi.
Those are great, but what do you do with a zoo full of stuffed animals? For safety reasons, you can't donate used stuffies (germs, dust mites, etc.)
HELP!!!
At our house, our son's old action figure-size toys + jewelry-size eyehooks = xmas tree ornaments.
