Those words come from the famous Monty Python ode to Finland, and we'd like to add "shopping" to the list of great things about this northern European country. The Finns have a tradition of simple modern design that's made to high standards of quality. Here are 10 places to find it on the web.

- Marimekko Concept Stores: They're probably the best-known Finnish company, and they've got a strong presence in the US, with several concept shops, including Kiito's on the Upper West Side in New York, where you can find this Pienet Kivet Wallpaper Grey, $149

Does anyone know if Marimekko bedding ever goes on sale?
I see Marimekko bedding on sale all the time at Crate and Barrel. You might not get lucky with the sized though.
I have to say, my last Marimekko duvet cover is incredibly shitty quality. The black pattern faded in the wash immediately, and seemed to wash into the surrounding white fabric, turning the whole thing an ugly grayish shade. Plus it has a disgusting filmy texture. I washed exactly according to instructions.
People in Finland all moan that Marimekko quality has completely gone to shit in the last 10-15 years and I'm one of those Finns who agree. You'll almost certainly regret buying the bedding we're supposed to be so proud of.
