Last night, Lady Gaga cut the ribbon at her very first holiday pop-up shop at Barney's New York. As a collaboration between herself and creative director Nicola Formichetti, I was expecting a slightly over-the-top, pop-punk wonderland. What I didn't expect was to pick up some really, really useful tips for decorating and entertaining this holiday season. Check out my ten takeaways after the jump.
1. Deck the halls with human hair.
2. Serve finger foods.
3. Abandon old stockings in favor of leather platforms & neo-unicorns for the mantle.
4. Only decorate cookies with own likeness.
5. Put bows on everything.
6. Some simple candles will add a bit of ambience.
7. Red & green is out. Consider an updated color palette.
8. Make time for a manicure before the party.
9. Pick up a few general gifts for surprise guests.
10. Remember the spirit of giving.
In honor of this project, Barneys New York is proud to donate 25% of sales from all items in Gaga's Workshop to the Born This Way Foundation. For directions and hours, visit GagasWorkshop.com.
Thanks Gaga!

White Enamel Flatwa...
atrocious...not ferocious! Oh well at least some of the money goes to charity, right? Right.Riighht...
LOL
Before we bestow too many accolades on Gaga and Barney's for giving SOME of their enourmous profit to charity, let's keep in mind that there are a lot of people who JUST GIVE to charity, without profiting themselves or receiving publicity for their brand.
P.S. Mat, I DID actually enjoy your article. Very creative and funny.
Waste of space.
Love Gaga, haters gon' hate. :P
@KittyAtlanta: You should call Barney's and ask them to give you your space back... Oh, wait...
Hopefully that 25% charity goes to the child- laborers in China who made that landfill-bound material. Yeah, I get a little Grinchy around X-mas. And Lady Gaga manages to weasel her way into everything.
P.S. Funny article at least!
seems more halloween than christmas
Hilarious, but oh my! So very very VERY hideous! (I admire Gaga's moxie and over-the-topness , and I think she seems very altruistic, but I think I'd rather donate directly than spend a penny on any of this stuff. Decorating with human hair, blech! Even if fake!)
ew. ew. ew. i dont hate gaga i HATE her style. nothing stylish about it. it's almost like a kids cartoon on waaaaay too much acid. A VERY BAD ACID TRIP. sorry no love for anything i saw there. nice post though. i almost want to apologize that you had to cover it but it had to be fun in a way. i'm sorry i just dont get her, and I am very close to her age so its not that I am too old to get her or anything stupid like that. like her music though.. most of it.
and yes to the Halloween look and the 80's flashback. urgggh.
Be nice if the hair could go to people who need it...
Such lavish display of nonsense.... but at least the bag is beautifully designed....
I don't despise GAGA but find her very interesting.... I'll love her in 10 years when she shows the world she can withstand the shelflife as well as the true Queen Madge!
the hair room is amazing! and i want those candles really bad!!! i'm not a huge gaga fan but i love her flair for the over the top.
