Benjamin Hubert Studio produced an astounding amount of work for this year's 100% Design. Benjamin is one of the UKs most successful young product designers and at age 27 he is definitely a designer to watch. Last year, he received ‘The most promising designer award" at 100% Design and this year he proved again why — he has delivered items that are simple, useful and absolutely beautiful!
- 4 The Float Light is a series of hand-turned Portuguese agglomerate cork lamps. Their organic, almost coconut-like shape, looks fantastic grouped together but the design is strong enough to be successful as a single pendant lamp, too. Float Light is manufactured by Unique Copenhagen.
& 6 Chimney Lights are made from hand thrown clay and feature a natural exterior with a white glazed interior of the pendants. Designed in collaboration with the manufacturer Viaduct, Benjamin designed this collection of lights to be produced in a traditional pottery studio in Wales. Because they are made using only traditional hand thrown techniques, all the lights are unique — craft at an artistic level!
& 8 The Pebble Chair (previously posted by Geoff) is made with a combination of rotational molded plastic and oak dining or occassional chair. With its oak wooden legs and molded plastic body, it's the perfection combination of form and function — absolutely gorgeous and comfortable! The Pebble series of chairs, stools and tables is manufactured by Devorm.
& 10 The Labware series of lighting is based on traditional flasks and beakers — hand-blown glass with a cork stop. Manufactured by Authentics, the collection includes pendants and floor lamps.
