If you've bought an iPad and you're looking for a stand to keep it upright, you've got a few cheap options available. The $0.69 iPad Stand and the $2.97 iPad Stand are two great (and inexpensive) options. But if your budget is something a little closer to... hmmm—$Free.99, check out this DIY stand using your iPad's packaging.
Making DIY stands out of the packaging our tech comes shipped in is a really brilliant idea when you think about it.
The packaging inside the box is usually designed to perfectly cradle the device inside, and never is that more true than with Apple. We first saw the phenomenon when crafty techies began adapting the iPhone's in-box packing to make cradles that held their phone up perfectly for movie-watching.
Now the recyclable cardboard covers that came gripped around each end of your new iPad can be cut to be the perfect multi-functional iPad stand, still allowing for access to the home button and all of your iPad's ports while it's "docked."
(And if your significantly more dumb and less crafty iPad-toting friends have already thrown away the packaging, it's good to know you can make up to four with just the stuff from one iPad box)
