Bright white kitchens are quite popular right now — but today we're going over to the dark side. These 11 kitchens have dark cabinets, or dark walls, or both, making for a deliciously moody cooking space.

This kitchen from Peppermint Bliss is one of my favorites — there's a beautiful contrast between the white subway tile and the shiny dark cabinets, and the marble-topped open island is a perfect finishing touch.

This kitchen by Royal Roulotte has dark walls and dark appliances balanced by white cabinetry. The way the tile wraps onto the toe kick is a nice little detail.

A kitchen from Coco Lapine Design rocks deep green cabinets. I love the contrasting bit of stone at the end of the countertop.

Hunter green, black countertops and plenty of wood make this minimally-detailed Trendenser anything but boring.

These black cabinets are just the perfect thing for this space from Share Design, adding depth and sophistication to a multi-layered space.

This kitchen, spotted on French by Design, has dark walls and dark cabinets, but plenty of light to keep it from feeling dreary.

There's no need to go super dark to get the look — even just a dark backsplash will do. Spotted on Britt + Co.
