Name: Jodi Location: Queens, NYC Type: 1-bedroom, rental Why I use color: Bright colors make me happy. It's as simple as that. When I moved into my current apartment, it was a big white box that didn't get a lot of light. I decided to paint accent walls in the living room and dining area to brighten things up. Since the rooms are open to one another, I picked contrasting colors from a table runner that I love...
The bright aqua and orange make me smile every time I walk through the door. What's better than that? I also painted the back splash area of the kitchen a lime green. It picks up on the green of the tree outside my window and helps the space feel a little more connected to nature. All of the colors that surround me help me rejuvenate after a long day out and about in the big, gray city. 2 Good color tips: 1. If you are having trouble deciding on a color palette, find something you love to take the colors from. Maybe from a favorite painting, pillow or rug. In my case, I have a beautifully colored table runner that I pulled my three main paint colors from. 2. Paint one wall per room a bold color. It saves time & money by painting less and acts as a focal point in each room. Favorite type and brand of paint: Benjamin Moore
