Lately, as I amble about my little vintage apartment, I've been dreaming of living in a loft. Oh those high ceilings and wide open spaces! While I was flipping through the house tour archives to placate my loft living fantasy, I started to notice some rather incredible kitchens...
• The kitchen in Doub's Free Spirited in Fishtown is everything I imagine when I think of living in a loft – right down to the adorable dog. I can just imagine tossing apples up to my husband on the walkway above the kitchen!
• The ceiling may be low in Jessica's Warm & Well Traveled Loft but it still maintains many loft features, like exposed pipes. The thing that drew me in to this kitchen, however, is the absolutely gorgeous island!
• Part of my dream of living a loft life is hosting big, fabulous parties. The kitchen in The Midyette Family's Tribeca Loft is made for entertaining. Just look at that long bar with all the stools!
• I can totally see myself standing behind that stainless steel island, surrounded by the moody black kitchen in Brooke & Sam's Skyscraper Loft.
• The kitchen in Megan & David's Storefront Live/Work Loft includes a drop down white board that the couple built for business meetings. Of course, I would totally use it for after-dinner Pictionary!
• The eclectic collections that abound in Michele Masters an Old School Loft are present in the kitchen, too. And that's totally part of its charm!
• One thing jumped out at me when I saw the photo of the kitchen in Mel & Dave's Industrial Chic Loft – that amazing exhaust fan over the range! How cool and industrial and yet also very practical!
• I love the modern beauty of the kitchen in Tomas & Eric's Downtown Davinci Loft. And I'm especially gaga for the island, with its black lacquered front and wood top and legs.
• One look at the backsplash in Caitlin & Levi's Youthful Loft and I was hooked! So unbelievably cool!
• The kitchen in the loft belonging to The Boys of Bushwick contains the inventive wine and stemware rack hanging by chains from the ceiling. Um, hello, that's so lofty!

White Enamel Four-P...
The first pic made me gasp and I don't even like to cook. Simply gorgeous.
Dreamy visions.
The first and third kitchens are the only ones I would want to actually cook in. They are beautiful, as others are as well. However, a kitchen is for the business of cooking. I can't tell you the number of times I've gone to a date's place because she wanted me to cook for her... and we had to remove art, candles, flowers and such because things were going to melt, catch on fire or art would be splattered with grease... LOL When dealing with boiling water, red hot surfaces... function comes first.
