I'm continually impressed by the quality of things that clever DIYers come up with, like these DIY lighting projects that look as good as, or even better than, something you would buy in a store. These 12 DIYs are just further proof that you don't have to spend a ton of cash to make your home look like a million bucks.

Above: This dramatic swing-arm sconce, inspired by Jean Prouvé's Potence lamp, is actually a DIY, believe it or not. The image of the lamp in situ is from The Brick House, and the DIY is by onefortythree.

We're huge fans of Lindsey Adelman's range of lighting, but her designs can be quite pricey. Fortunately for the crafty ones among us, she also provides instructions for creating the lamp pictured above from standard, off-the-shelf parts.

There's also instruction for making this chandelier. If you don't feel like hunting down the parts on your own you can buy the kit for $146.
