Chaise lounge or chaise longue? Whether you go the French or American pronunciation route, these long chairs are universally adaptable and great spots for reading, napping, and of course, lounging. For the modern design lovers out there, we've gathered 12 of our favorite contemporary chaises. Check them out!

LOW

A streamlined chaise at a great price. Once you're done reading, the backrest folds down to create a daybed for hardcore napping.

We love that this chaise is modular—the corner backrest is removable to adjust to your needs.

Sleek and contemporary, this channel-tufted lounge is wrapped in bonded leather, keeping costs low.

Snuggle into the cozy corner of this mod lounger, available in two neutrals and three poppy hues (like the sunny one above.)

The matte gold legs of this chaise give it a dose of glam, while the leatherette keeps it vegan-friendly.

Our Previous Lists:

MEDIUM

Winning the award for cutest seating on this roundup, contrasting piping and buttons keep this lounge playful and mod.

I own the Lounge II sofa, and if this chaise is anything like that, it's going to be amazingly comfortable and the coziest thing you've ever sat in. Available in 23 stock and stock plus (longer delivery lead) fabric options.

Down-filled furnishings take a little maintenance (make sure to fluff regularly), but their comfort ratings are so worth the hassle. We love the diamond graphic of the fabric pick above, but it also comes in in a plethora of solids.

Other Good Resources:

HIGH

Double-end chaises are also referred to as tête-à-tête, intended for two people to sit (or lounge) while facing one another. Corrigan Studio's is a simple and modern take on the French classic, and available in three neutral colors.

Similar to the Diamond Sofa chaise shown earlier, this one from All Modern is pricier, but authentic leather that will wear beautiful over time. The kiln-dried hardwood frame ensures sturdiness and long lasting construction.

Le Corbusier's truly iconic chaise longue, designed in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand. This designer's dream chair also comes with a dream price tag, but for the true enthusiast, it's a classic that will likely never go out of style.

Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe (and produced by Knoll) in 1927, the often imitated MR Chaise was novel for its time, created using tubular steel and ergonomic with generous proportions. The chair is still created using Ludwig's original specifications, and will forever be a design darling.
