My husband and I are planning our first nursery. We know we want a space that's both baby-friendly and design-conscious. We want to integrate artwork we already own and a few pieces we've had in mind. The space needs to flow with the other bedrooms in eyeshot on the second floor and steer clear from pastels. It was only after spending time poking around online looking at nurseries created by others that we clearly defined these goals.
As we thought about the space we are transforming into a nursery, we first sought out inspiring images and inspiring rooms online. This process has helped us identify our nursery must-haves as well as the elements we are drawn to like colors, lighting and different design aesthetics.
Here are 15 nurseries that are inspiring us from the Apartment Therapy archives — check out their fresh color palettes and unique space saving solutions! I've also created a Pinterest board where I'm keeping inspirations along the way.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Totally agreeing on looking for inspiration online.
The only thing I find hard to do (except picking up only one style I love), is to imagine how the colors will look on your walls. Light is very different in California, New York or the north of France where I live. I'm having a girl in three months, and her room faces North: not much natural light (so no pastels, soft greys or whites), not much space (meaning not too much color either). I've made a inspiration tray that my husband and I love, but I'm very unsure about the end result... so hard to predict when you're not a designer.
i will sit back and enjoy the ride!
