Name: Rowen, 7-months-old
Location: San Diego, CA
Why I chose these colors for the nursery:
In designing Rowen’s room, my wife and I wanted to create a modern yet playful nursery. Because we were going to design everything including the bedding ourselves we started with a hunt for fabric.
We knew we were having a boy and from my sketches that giraffes were going on the wall, so that helped narrowing down the colors. After hours of searching fabric stores in San Diego we came across the hero fabric, 'Dew Drop' by Amy Butler in green and brown. So we built our color scheme around the fabric that we chose for the bedding, the green is the playful and the brown is the hint of modern.

Two Good Color Tips:
1. Don’t be afraid to experiment and go against the grain...have fun with it.
2. Look for color inspiration in your everyday surroundings.

Color(s) and brand(s) of paint used in the room:
Green / "Hidden Meadow" 410B-5, Behr Interior Flat
Brown / "Breakfast Blend" 280F-7, Behr Interior Flat

What a wonderfully creative room and refreshing color combination. A great example of how to add color without painting all the walls. I remember this room from before, a Nursery Tour? Anyway, it is obvious that you guys thought of practically every detail, like lining up the stripes in the curtains to the paint on the wall.
Love the room. Where did you get the rug?
Sleek,
you can get the rug here (the first link is cheaper!)

Great Nursery!!!
The paint and the continuation of the lime stripe in the curtain is gorgeous! Great job!
perfection.
But come on AT, I don't think anyone would mind if you spell-checked the reader-submitted writing. I have those brain misfires all the time because I type so fast...I'm referring to the new/knew.
I love this nursery!!
Cute room!
I will say again that I think it's unfortunate that in FIFTEEN entries, AT couldn't include a single room of an older child, especially since the contest rules explicitly encouraged them. Nurseries are wonderful -- and we've seen some really lovely ones here -- but I think it would be nice to see how people design rooms for older kids, and not just with cribs and rockers.
Fantastic room. Any child would be fortunate have a creative, mind stimulating room like this. Where can I get the design on the wall? Love it! Lucky Rowen.
Ahh one of my favorites. I just adore that shade of green and I love the Amy Butler fabric :]
Beautiful. I want to live in this room!
I love the color scheme, the fabric and rug patterns and the drawing on the wall, but the room feels like it was designed for a magazine rather than a kid. I can't imagine any toys (in colors that don't match) in the room.
Beautiful room!
Hi! I LOVE this room. On the side...I moved to San Diego very recently, and I am having a hard time finding fabric stores that aren't stocked entirely with Disney flannel. Where do you recommend?
happybirthday,
I recomend:
Rosie's Calico Cupboard in El Cajon (that's where we found all the fabric for the bedding above!
http://www.rosiescalicocupboard.com/
or
Amidon Quiltworks in Poway (great fabric but a smaller scale than Rosies)
http://www.amidonquiltworks.com/
or
Beverly Fabric - Balboa Ave. (has some great fabric and trim!)

or
Joann Fabric Stores (good for solids and some other fabric... esp. if you have a coupon!) - Located all over SD with a super store in Temecula if you want to drive!

We hear ya St@cy - changed! Thanks.
I demand a recount if Rowen's nursery doesn't win.
A very well designed nursery!
Thank you! I am going to have a fun week ahead of me...
I watched this room come together and they are SO creative! I love the colors for a boy (more fun than blue) and how all of the accessories tie the theme together. It is absolutely wonderful in person!
How did u go about drawing the tree on the wall? Did u make a stencile? Love the room...its beautiful!
I'm in love.
I wanted something along these lines, but with elephants, I just didn't know how to go about it. Yours gave me some great ideas.
Where did you get the curtains, or did you make them?
emilysmithxo.. I made the curtains to match the wall! Elephants will be GREAT!
Shereerose... my husband came up with the concept for the tree and drew it on the wall...no stencils. But you could take a picture and project it on the wall (makes it bigger) and trace it on the wall!
