1.7 Ocean: Behind the Scenes

1.7 Ocean: Behind the Scenes

Jun 20, 2007

What would you do with this space? That's the challenge for four local designers that will be customizing one of four bungalows at the 1.7 Ocean event that happens this weekend. We got a chance to get the inside scoop from one of the designers, Natalie Umbert, of Atelier Interior Design, in Coronal Del Mar. Click below the jump to see Natalie's inspiration board and some insights on how she plans on transforming the space...

The homes in the 1.7 Ocean development are all derived from classic mid-century design. Natalie's inspiration really started with the fabric swatch on the far right (with the small red flowers.) From there, she decided to combine it with a teal/turquoise color, which ultimately will be the main color throughout. She plans on using touches of red and yellow, but confining the red to public spaces, and the yellow to the private ones. Wallpaper will be used on one wall in each room to add movement- She's thinking the teal/turquoise patterned paper (from Flavor Paper) for the kitchen, the yellow and white trellis paper for the main bedroom (from Brunschwig and Fils) and the yellow and white strie (also Brunschwig and Fils) for the guestroom/studio. Overall the mood she hopes to achieve is "happy and cozy with touches of luxe."

Stay tuned... we'll post the final space, as well as what the other showcase home designers did in the next few days. You will be able to see it in person if you're around this Saturday, June 23rd. More details here.
