19th Century Stick Spatter Designs

Is "stick spatter" new to anyone else?? Although we may have seen the style, we never knew the name. This 19th century technique used on ceramic dishware and tabletop pieces blends hand painting with stamped designs for happily ornate details that don't necessarily subscribe to one era only. With its origins in Scotland and England, we found this collection of Patricia Keller's featured in Cottage Living, and love every detail and "flaw":

I love spatterware! It's vibrant...folky....and has humble beginnings. The patterns make me smile with all the colors (my favorites...reds, yellows and blues). Antique pieces are very pricey, though. Those are the ones made in England. You may get some more recent pieces reasonably, made in Belgium, I think. A collection of spatterware is very striking.
